HI Folks,
I bought me a plasma tv , Samsung PS50P96FDX 50" Full HD 1080p.
Last week from a local shop ( soz OCuk NI postage would have killed me ) , took it home , set it up
and switched on and checked for any defects with the screen and I found a stuck red cell on the mid right side ,
the shop sent a an engineer out and he exchanged it for a new unit.

I didnt have time to give it a good look over due to being on night shift and having to return to bed ( was very bleary eyed ) but it looked ok at a glance after only 1 hrs sleep after a 12 hour night shift.

Any how I just give the new set a good look over and ............

I have 1 red stuck on cell right mid side .....

And almost dead center of the screen a four cell square phasing ( changing different colours )

Is it normal to have displays with cell issues ?
Or am I just really unlucky ?

Any one else had issues with this model / plasmas in general?

Iam unsure what to do , not sure if another set would be worth asking for

Iam also thinking of getting a refund dunno what to do

Sounds like you have been very unlucky, personally I wouldnt accept any stuck/dead pixels on a new set... go direct to where you purchased it from and get it replaced especially if the pixels are in the center of the screen. Dont let them fob you off to get it sorted by the manufacturers.

If it was a Monitor I'd be more inclined to accept it to be honest, in a tv I don't think I'd ever accept one unless it was right on the edge. And I'd definitely not accept it if you had ones in the centre of the screen changing colours...

If you have a 50" set you are obviously sat over 6ft away from the screen. How on earth can you see a dead pixel from 6ft?

If it's changing colours and distracting you from the enjoyment then get another one

If not then I honestly wouldn't worry about it, just enjoy your new TV :D

Bugger , Found another one stuck perm on yellow this morning 50% across , 30% down from top

So that's three distinct areas in total

:-( , they sending an engineer out hopefully next week to take a look.

The fact that I know there are stuck pixels will have my eyes searching for them instead of watching the movie ( I know there must be something wrong with me !)

once you know they're there you'll be forever spotting them when using it.

my friend has a 19" monitor and once i noticed its only stuck pixel (one blue one in the top left corner) i can't use the screen without looking at it...

With monitors its normal to get a couple of dead pixels/lazy pixel. With my NEC 20WGX2 I have a couple of dead pixels but only notice them when I have certain colours over them, i.e. shows up on black etc.

There are a couple utils out there which can help get rid of them, using simulations, forgot their names now. You could connect it up to your PC and give it a whirl on that.

Some retailers have a dead pixel policy on monitors, i.e. they won't exchange it unless it has a certain number over.. believe there is a certain ISO standard out there in reference too it.

However, I can imagine that TV wasn't cheap, so I personally wouldn't stick up with it, ring em and see if you can get a replacement or full refunded and order it from another place.
