I'm after scrapping my DVD recorder and surround system for an entertainment PC

It's going to run Vista Ult 32bit

I'm after info on tv cards and ow to configure them with Vista as the ones I'm had in the past have a horrible interface with their own software. Can Vista Ult media centre be used instead of the manufacturer’s software?

Yes It can, you can record, schedule and view just as normal.

As for configuring the card in VMC, It has limited settings, i.e. TV Signal etc

I have just bought a USB TV device and got it working with VMC and I love it.

I just need to find some cordless speakers as I don't want wires all over the room...any suggestions please?

Not aware of any computer based speakers which are cordless, however, there are a few 5.1 kits out there with cordless speakers, using a wireless receiver. Such as Samsung HT-THX range, majority of them come "Wireless ready", however you'll need to purchase the wireless module separately.
