Still some good people out there

I found £20 one night outside the students union when I was walking back home with some mates (we weren't drunk). Handed it in to the police station the next day. I got quite a few odd looks and comments from people about doing that, which I resented.

It is odd though:p

Wallet, yes. Drivers license, yes. £20 note? no lol, how would they prove who's it was.

Just had some random person ring the buzzer. Returning my flat mates wallet. Not only is everything there it even still has £50 notes in it .

Feel a bit bad not giving him some money or anything. Didn't have any on me and no idea he had £50 in the wallet.

Not only all that but he drove from Thornbury to the centre of bristol...

So a big thumbs up and a thank you..

Wait for a brick through the window with a note attached saying 'Cheers ya tight sod'

Come to think of it I remember finding a wallet as kid ,it had cash and cards ect ,I phoned up the owner who was really pleased and said he was going to give me a reward ,I was really excited ,he came around our house later and gave me something like 20p the tight sod !

It was me... honest, guv. I'll email you my bank details and your flatmate can pay some cash into it as a "thank you" ;)

A lovely guy behind me in the bus queue made up the fare for me tonight as the bus company had put the prices up from night buses and i hadn't realised. :)

That was nice. Some guy got ont he bus i was getting to uni and had lost his change....not a ned or anything just looked like a really annoyed guy who ahd stood in the rain for ages. I was gonna go and pay his fare but realised i had only picked up my £1.20 in change . Felt bad when the driver told him to FOAD.

I have lost my wallet twice, once drunk and got it back after it came through the post, the wallet must have ended up in the postal service, either I posted it while drunk? or I lost it and someone posted it in a post box, it had my driving licence in with my home address and a postman delivered it to me one morning in a jiffy bag and a note from the royal mail with "found in the post" I was like lmao all that trouble to hand me back a wallet and a driving licence but I was greatful it would have cost £30+ for a replacement driving licence there was no money inside but I wasn't arsed, doubt there would have been much in it anyway at the end of the night and the cards where cancelled.

Lost it when I went on a bike ride and it fell out at a crossing in town and I went to a shop to buy a drink I knew it had gone so I cancelled the cards and went home, got a phone call from a guy who had found it crossing the road and kept it to give it me back, all the money was inside and I offered to give him £5 for his troubles when I went to pick it up but he wouldn't take it.

Even found a phone and rung up home and arranged for them to pick it up.

So if I ever find anything I will always do my up most to give anything back to its rightful owner, unless its £500,000 cash of drug money :P

wow - freak event in todays culture..

i lost my wallet at manchester airport.
had all our money and driving licence in it.
we were getting married in jamaica and without my dl i wouldn't
have had the best day of my life.
after asking the staff and getting no joy, a scouser taps me on the shoulder,
asks if i have lost a wallet and points me to where my wallet was handed in.
can't tell you how relieved i was.
gotta say forgot to tip anyone tho.

I'd make a bad bus driver as I' be letting every sob story on for free lol.

Last time I returned a purse, I didn't even get a thank you! I should have expected it really, girl was a blatent chav. I shall be pocketing any chav wallets/purses I find in future!

Nice story; shame so many replies saying "I'd of (have) spent it. And some still wonder why this country is the way it is.

Do as you would be done by is a good motto to live by.

Based on the information: Two £10s lost outside the SU the previous evening. I doubt many people are going to go there saying that.

Still I expect the cops enjoyed a few pints on you ;)

The thought had crossed my mind. I still feel I did the right thing though, it wasn't mine to keep.

I was in Torquay last year for a few days as it was my girlfriend's birthday and she wanted a short break.

Anyway on our last day we were walking through the centre and it was busy since it was a bank holiday monday. Something caught my eye on the floor which turned out to be an ipod nano, I picked it up anyhow and it had obviously been dropped in transit since it wasn't particularly close to any of the shops either side of me, more in the centre of the busy shopping strip which was pretty wide. I didn't really know what to do with it and had no idea where the police station was and we were setting off in about an hour anyway. To sum it up, I kept the ipod and haven't really felt guilty about it, nor have I used or sold it. It's just sat in my draw. Meh.

Once girlfriend went to use an ATM, the lady that just used it had withdrew £200 and forgot to take her cash. GF chased her into a shop and gave her the money. The woman gave her such a cold response, not even a thankyou! :/

At Reading Festival, my mate lost his wallet dancing and somebody saw it in the mud. He took it to the security guard who wasn't very trustworthy, so took it home and washed it all and then posted it back to him :)

If I lost £20, I wouldn't even bother going to the police station.

Same here...I have also found £20 in the street and kept it. But I once saw an old lady drop a fiver and keep on walking so I picked it up and ran after het to return it.

But I have returned a mobile i found and had one of mine returned and our lass left hers on the metro a couple of weeks ago and the person who found it rang me before she'd even gotten home...we bought him some cans to say thanks but he wouldn't accept them so Im had to drink them (I love a happy ending)
