Dad's new card- is he on drugs?

My dad has ordered a card, it doesn't make sense what info he's given me

"Asus 8000 XT Extreme 256MB PCI-E. $500"

Said "not in the uk yet" One thing "XT" means it's a ATI which conflicts with "8000" and then only 256MB of RAM, as only budget cards have that much.

worth very, very little. If you paid anything over ~£30 you got ripped.

He said got it "free for testing" with FS-X, wanted the best card...I showed him a 8800 GTS a couple of days ago and he went ahead and got something no idea. Probably fit into a AGP slot on a celeron or something..
