DIC To Make Fresh Buy-Out Bid For Liverpool

Lets hope the yanks take the money and go back to Texas. Saying that though, I hope the DIC turn out to be OK (If it goes through.)

Its pretty sad that in the world of todays football, to win everything you need billionaires to throw money at you... kind of takes away the value of the win. But thats change I suppose.

These type of posts are very unoriginal and are getting incredibly annoying

You are right they are very unoriginal and annoying, funnily enough if you go the Liverpool forums they are saying the same. You will still find people saying it is their year, in the past you were going on about how the Americans were much better because there would be no debt against the club unlike those mancs and Arsenal, that DIC were bad because they were only in it for a quick profit and now yet again the fans and club seem to have open their legs out wide for some DIC? Rafa needs more money (he has spent hardly any) and Rafa is the best manager and he will lead you to league glory despite the fact he has proven nothing in the league. He has won more than Fergie in his first 3-4 years and won more than Wenger since he has been at Liverpool there Rafa > Wenger and Rafa > Fergie. Also remember man for man Liverpool probably have one of the best sides in the Top 4 as well.

Just go on to RAWK, the place is full of rubbish like this. Don't get too offended either mate ;)

The premiership has changed massively now, despite what anyone says you need money to compete and a lot of it.

You do need money and Liverpool have spent plenty of it (only just behind Man utd since Rafa arrived IIRC) yet still don't look close to challenging.

Of course if you go on specific club forums you'll get completely biased views and im sure if i were to go on an Arsenal forum there would be plenty of posts about how Wenger is so amazing and he doesn't need money to compete, even though he only stopped signing expensive players around 3-4 years back, yet if you look back over the last 3-4 seasons and Arsenal have won **** all. Maybe you should spend more time on Arsenal forums than you spend on RAWK or Utd forums.

Also im pretty sure Chelsea have spent a bit more than us ;)

This isn't RAWK, most of the fans on these forums are pretty level headed and aren't saying "this is still our year" etc so why bring it on here? I don't visit any LFC football forums any more for exactly that reason, similarily if you look on Redcafe/CFCnet or whatever most of the stuff isn't worth reading.

I don't want to have a Fergie vs Rafa or Wenger vs Rafa debate as that was done last week and they don't get anywhere anyway. Personally I'd rather have Rafa in charge, if they switched places I doubt Fergie or Wenger would bring us the title unless they were given several seasons to build a squad and allowed to buy the players they wanted.

Just got a voicemail of my mate- his cousin works for the Liverpool Echo, occasionally covering footy. He's just called my friend and said that a deal's now been made, DIC have bought out G+H with Parry being ousted and something formal will be announced tomorrow ahead of the Villa game. One detail he mentioned that it's doubtful any money would be available for January but plenty (£95M) would be there for Summer and they still want Rafa to stay.

Now, the lad in question's an Everton fan but my mate's a shrewd judge and wouldn't have fallen for a wind up from him so we'll have to wait and see.

I'm taking this with a big pinch of salt until I hear otherwise, but I thought people might be interested.

There aren't many lads who work on the Echo sports pages who are Everton fans. Even the Everton reporter is a Red.

Nice if it is true though :)

Cant be compared, we've spent that money on double the amount of players with Rafa having to rebuild the squad, not just the first team.

You are right Wenger hasn't spent much in that time, maybe you didn't know that we actually moved into a new stadium last season so there might of been a reason he hasn't spent much. He took a very different approach where he near all our last title winning side has gone, he has tried to mix youth in with a bit of experience and so far this season it seems to have worked pretty well. During this time we funded and built our own stadium and sit in a pretty secure position off and on the pitch. Unlike other clubs who have begged for new owners to come in because they couldn't afford to make it happen otherwise and then have a manager on top who wants to spend big money like Man utd or Chelsea........

I do spend most of my time on Arsenal forums actually, I'm not quite sure why you think I spend more time on RAWK or a Man utd forum.

I never said the fans here were like that, oh and I was joking about for your information, guess you missed the ;) smiley.....Though outside of this forum whether on other forums or in the real world your lot do have quite a few delusional fans. I have quite a few Liverpool supporting cousin (well nearly all of them the glory hunters from the eighties!) one cousin who has been telling me for 2 years now that Eto'o is gonna sign for your soon and rip it in the league :p

Why did he not go for quality over quantity then? I look at some of his signings and I'm not saying they are bad or won't come good but they certainly aren't cheap buys. (Here are some approx figures of the players he has bought)

£10mill on Kuyt, £6mill on Crouch, £6mill on Pennant, £6mill on Sissoko, Babel for £13mill, Benayoun for £5mill and Lucas for around £6mill-£8mill

Lets not make it out like only good players are available for £20mill. Look at Adebayor, Hleb, Rosicky, Elano, Petrov, Ashley Young, Berbatov, Roque Santa Cruz, Benni McCarthy, Benjani and Anelka are all players who in the past 3-4 years have joined PL club and all look pretty good players and all under £11mill. Not all of them are first XI quality for the Top 4 side but certainly more than good enough for the squads.

TBH the very fact they are an investment group would cause me concern as the name suggests they are looking for a return on it where as to make a team successful you need to invest heavily and expect very little finanical return like that Russian dude a Chelsea who's name i can't spell

Liverpool co-owner Tom Hicks has insisted he has no intention of accepting an offer for his stake in the Anfield giants.

Reports over the weekend had suggested Dubai International Capital was preparing to launch a £500million bid to buy the club and that an offer was in the process of being made to American co-owners Hicks and George Gillett.

One Merseyside-based media agency went so far as to suggest the club had indeed been sold to DIC.

However Hicks has released a statement in which he described the latest report as "a complete fabrication and ... absolutely and categorically untrue".

False report

Hicks added: "I have not received any offer to purchase the club from the DIC or anyone else, much less accepted any such offer. Nor do I have any intention of doing so.

"Whoever is behind this false report, the facts are that I and my family have always been, and remain, fully committed to co-owning the club; that no-one in my family has ever indicated any intention or desire to sell our stake in the club; and that we expect and intend to be co-owners of the club, and to actively and enthusiastically support the club's manager, players and fans for many years to come."

Hicks' statement was released through financial and corporate communications consultancy FD.

Reports had claimed that DIC were set to make an offer for the complete buy-out of the American duo.

The Dubai-based group were close to their own takeover of the Anfield club 12 months ago before the Reds' then chairman David Moores decided to go with the USA investors.

Bit in bold seems to be an added part to the statement in the OP.

Nothing new really, he keeps denying he wants to sell but there's definantly something in the stories.

My point wasn't to discuss Wenger but to point out if you read club specific forums you'll get unbalanced opinions. The bit about RAWK was because you seem to know so much about it and iirc a couple of the Mancs on here seem to think you're a regular on some Manc forum.

There are people on here who also think I'm a deluded biased gooner or even some who think I'm a good poster :p Don't believe everything you read.

If i can't believe G|mp then who can i believe? ;)

Regarding Hicks' denial, a couple of points which i may be reading too much into: Previous statements regarding the club have been joint statements and made through the club. The statement today was just on his behalf and through an agency rather than the club and even the previous denial the other day was also made through some agency and although it mentions Gillett he's supposed to have not been involved.

Because you cant just have 11 quality players, you need a squad and Benitez has had to sell to bring those players in, he's not just been given the cash to spend. Most of the players you've mentioned haven't been bad buys, Kuyt was good last season, but has fallen away this season since being eclipsed by Torres, Crouch and Sissoko have almost doubled in value, Babel (£11m) is showing a lot of promise and will probably break into the first team permanently, Benayoun is an excellent squad players for £5m and Lucas is going to be fantastic when he's older and more developed. What we need is the ability to spend big money on one player, sure we've bought Torres, but we need similar level players in other positions. Look at MU, two £30m forwards, a £40m winger (even though they didnt pay that), another £17m winger, three £17-18m DMF, £30m CB.

According to that Rafa has spent more than Fergie. Having a quick glance at the figures some might be a bit high so even if you take £10mill away he has spent close to Man utd. He has still spent £140mill on players and I'm not quite sure how much more money he wants. Wenger has rebuilt the whole squad since we won the title and had severe restrictions and has done ok and not moaned about it. I'm not saying if Wenger does this so should Rafa but the he hasn't had money excuse just doesn't wash. He has had plenty of money and not spent it that well, that is the main problem here and something which some Liverpool fans I fail to recognize.
