African cup of Nations 2008 ***Spoilers***

Hate Drogba or not, he's damn effective. 33 goals last season and not one of them a penalty? It's also worth mentioning he did it consistently home AND away, which is something that could be held against Henry at times during his Arsenal career.

I guarantee one thing, I bet there aren't many strikers defenders would rather not play against ahead of Drogba.

He scores and that's all that matters. One of only a few players in the Premiership that would get in to the first team of any other team and that includes Liverpool, Arsenal and Man United.
 
Is also being shown on British Eurosport if you have it as I cant figure out the BBCi thing either.

Was a typical sort of game, pretty open and easy chances being missed. Looking forward to some doggy football from the Africans always prove to be entertaining. Nigeria - Ivory Coast should be good un'.

I don't think he'd get in ahead of Rooney and Tevez tbh, but he'd be a fantastic alternative. He's not dynamic enough for us, he's a big battering ram, but quite one dimensional.
 
Dunno. Certain situations I'd prefer Tevez, others Drogba. Start of the season I'd have said Drogba straight away though.
 
Well it didn't quite turn into the goal-fest it could have, but 6 goals was enough.

Now for the biggest clash of the knockout stage - Nigeria vs Ivory Coast

He has a great first touch, and natural sense toward goal. can header, shoot within box, and far from it. hes very powerful (got a lot of body strength), and can shake CBs off the ball. hes not ronaldo quick, but, nowadays anyone who aint, is slow. he isnt that slow.

He has great defensive headers. and yes he wouldnt be sutied to manUs counterstyle lightening quick goals, but thast just oen club , oh and barca, in other clubs he would do well.


what more can you want?
 
Its as if they've got 22 black premiership players and split them into two teams. Only a select few who aren't household names in this game.
 
Quite a disappointing match so far.

Hope the second half proves a little better.
 
Drogba was terrible. He doesn't look anywhere near fit enough. He offered little more than moral support.

But tbh very few people were on top of their game. Mikel looked solid in midfield, but I was still disappointed in Nigeria given the amount of talent they had on show.

It was always going to take a bit of individual magic to win that game, and fair play to Kalou for providing it.
