Good cheap motor thats quick with cheap insurance..

A Saxo VTR won't be cheap at 18, insurance wise. A Focus 1.6 would be an alright step up. Or even a Focus 2.0 is very low insurance group and will offer a massive performance increase for you. Whilst remaining a bloody good car. But hey I'm not bias or anything :p

Focus 2.0 could be had for 3k if you hunt around. A 1.6 can be had for 2k upwards (A decentish one that is)

I think the Focus 1.6 would be a much better option over the VTR.

More reliable, Focus just don't do breaking down, possibly as fun to drive as the VTR, maybe better?.

Saying that the VTR's can be had for peanuts so hey it might be an option to look at. I decided to steer away from the boy racer image they seemed to pick up.

Lighters, I'm 18 and I pay £850 FC on my Foci 1.6. I do have two years NCB mind, one is from my first year of driving and the other from having a moped at 16.

Just remember insurance will laugh at you for most stuff till you turn 21.. they're laughing in the tune of £1,100 on my renewal next months on a 90bhp Mini.. and i'm 19 and 1ncb.

xsara vtr/vts would be a good shout. Cheap to buy as they are ugly and cheap to insure because nobody young buys one to crash or steals one because they are ugly :P

Where on earth do you guys go for insurance?! Do people not shop around or have I just got really lucky? I'm 19 with 0ncb and a theft claim on my bike insurance. I'm paying £570fc on my Suzuki Bandit with a GSXR engine and £600 on my brand new 207 Sport

306TD

One of the best kept secrets. Very cheap group 5 insurance and running costs combined with a few tweaks of a screw giving 110bhp and way more torque than some lame 1.6 n/a engine :)

Xsara VTR... maybe, but still will be stupidly high compared to a foci or a saxo VTR...

and Xsara VTS... no, just no. :p

get the Saxo VTR, Fez ZS (better than the saxo IMO ;)) or a Foci...

But will sound like a 1950's tractor, have an interior styled on an 80's volvo exterior, will rattle itself to bits, and weigh a shedload more than the 1.6 na powered car (saxo/106).

I like 306's, but the 1.9TD will never be as fun as a VTR/VTS/106 GTi.

why do owners of peugeot 306D's seem to be under the impression they have diesel-powered Imprezas on their driveways?
