Guild's maturing very well now - have a guild bank, 70s are steadily on the rise, communication is good and the guild forum is active. Anyone else wanting in on the fun can join if they like, there's absolutely no criteria or anything. The OCuK guild is on Shattered Halls realm, here's the guild site - http://www.cliffnjodie.ukfsn.org/phpBB3/

Never too late to tag along !

Ok - So...I'm now lvl 6 and have gone back to my Hunter trainer. I can now pay to get certain skills, but I don't know what to get?! Can anyone help?
Also - I'm in the middle of a quest which I cant seem to do (although I am getting the WoW Battle chest today which contains the WoW guide. Will that have a step-by-step way to completing quests?)
Basically I have to recover some shinning coin from a cave not far from where you start off as an Orc Hunter, but I can't find it in there. I have explored most of the cave, but I have reached a point where there is some kind of dark magician bloke on a platform which I cannot reach by jumping. I can fire arrows at him but he can dodge every single one of them!

Anyone know what I'm on about? Lol

For the training thing, you need to train everything. If this is the first time you've played WoW you might find cash is a tiny bit tight for the first few levels (learning mining and skinning when you get the chance will earn you a few silvers by selling leather and copper bars on the Auction House), but you need all the skills you are offered as soon as you can get them.

At level 10 you will start to accumulate talent points at a rate of 1 per level, which allow you to customise your character. Learning and choosing how to spend these points is part of the fun of the game, so don't worry about the "best" way to spend them. The Hunter class also becomes considerably easier at level 10 when you can start training pets.

As for the quest you're stuck on, I vaguely think I know the one. If you can't reach the quest mob, it's because you've gone the wrong way. Use your mini map zoomed out to see any alternative paths you missed. He's dodging your arrows (you probably see the word "evade") because he has no clear path to reach you. Mobs in the WoW world evade when they can't get to the person attacking them. This is to stop exploitative killing of things you otherwise couldn't kill.

EDIT - but learn to use Thottbot as mentioned above. Learn it and love it.

TheDean,

Best advice is to take it very slow! The guide will help you though.

Let me explain 1 thing, when you were fireing arrows from where you were standing you were sort of exploiting the game, the NPC (Monster) cannot walk to you or attack (unless caster) and because of that you can bug the monster where it will just evade.

There will be another way around in the cave to get to the ledge where the monster is.

And regarding skills from trainer someone said to buy everything. Thats exactly what you do!

Thanks very much guys.....It's difficult to do some of these quests when you're a total noob like me!
I must say I am quite low on cash.....I'll have to have another go in that cave tonight once I have learnt Serpant Sting & Arcane shot. I should also have a full account rather than a trial one (fingers crossed my battle chest will arrive today!) so you can invite me to the guild - IGN: Vinsorious

It also tells me that I cannot use chain mail yet - but I'm not sure how I can train myself up to be able to use it? Also - if I were to use it I imagine it would slow me down, which isn't a really good idea if I'm a hunter I guess?

Chain comes at level 40- it'll appear as a buyable skill from your trainer when you get there.

Arcane shot and SS are 2 of your main abilities so defo use them. As soon as you get 10 do the taming quest from the trainer so you get a pet

It also tells me that I cannot use chain mail yet

Just as you get fed a carrot every 2 levels by being able to train some new skills, you are often also fed a bigger carrot every 10 levels or so. For Hunters, learning chain mail is one such bigger carrot and you don't get it until level 40. It won't slow you down at all - you can fill your bags or wear whatever you want and you won't be encumbered.

As for your cave problems, interior quests can often be problematic to newcomers. This is because there are often lots of monsters closely packed together with patrols. Additionally they respawn at twice the speed of monsters in outdoor locations, which can mean they are popping up behind you as quick as you can kill them if you don't move fast.

Is there any way I can sell chain stuff for cash as obv I don't want to let it fill up my backpack...

It's so funny you mentioned that....I got killed yesterday because I stupidly tried to run out as fast as I could but got murdered as they all ganged up on me at the same time. If I have actually fought my way through, monster by monster, I would have been fine. Clearly got too cocky tbh!

Also - I keep letting the spirit bring me back to life as someone said that it only really hurts you at lvl 10 or above - Is that correct?

I think I've only used the spirit res twice in all the years I've played! And that was because I was actually unable to get my corpse on both times.

Its not worth using the spirit res, costs durability loss to items so that means you pay money to repair them.

yeah its always best to run back toyour body and ressurect... also after level 10 you get 'ressurection sickness' which basically prevents you from doing anything usefull for like 10 minutes!.. not good!

so yes! go get your body :P

Right...cool! Thanks for your help again & sorry for being a pain!

Dean, what char you playing? Shout ingame if you have a problem, and if someones in the locale theyll give you a hand. Just looking at a couple of points you made.

Firstly quests. Get this addon - Lightheaded - it will help enormously with quests. Whenever you have one, user comments will tell you what you need to do to complete the quest and if you click on the blue coordinates, an arrow will appear showing you where the mobs/questgiver is. Incredibly useful. There are a few other addons I consider essential, such as auctioneer and fubar, but I will leave that up to you. You should really think about class specific addons, they make life a lot easier.

As for selling stuff, any vendor will buy the contents of your backpack. When you have the vendor screen open, right click on the thing you want to sell. Auctioneer helps as it gives you an idea of what each item is worth. At the low levels you mostly collect junk, when you start getting greens you can sell those in AH. Cash is always a problem in WoW until you know what youre doing, but you dont need to really buyanything until youre up in the mid-20s as youll be levelling so fast you'll outgrow anything you buy quickly.

Playing Orc Hunter (Vinsorious) as I think I would prefer using ranged weapons and the idea of pets sounds really fun too...

EDIT - I'm goin to download 'Lightheaded' - Are there any Hunter specific mods I should download?
