The ps3 rumble controllers,i was thinking of ordering one, worth the money or not?, and what do you think a fair price would be?

Its well worth it, not for the rumble (I don't really care about rumble)

But it's worth it for the improved build quality (especially the plastics used) and the improved sticks (much more accurate to aim with). - I have heard though that the new 40GB PS3's are shipping with better quality plastics on the Sixaxis.

I have just deleted 9 posts which were offering/requesting competitor information.

The purpose of these boards is the discussion of consoles, by no stretch of the imagination is it to be a hub for the distribution of competitor information via email.

This has been noted, have no doubt that you will receive a suspension if you are involved in any competitor related incidents in the future. To avoid that situation please read the FAQ and make sure you have a comprehensive understanding of the rules before posting here again.

Sorry, point taken, I can assure you it won't happen again.

As someone mentioned above, the new 40 GB PS3 has a new sixaxis which is the same quality as the dualshock3. I have both and you cannot tell any difference apart from weight and rumble. Plastics are the same and aiming is equally good on both.

The old sixaxis must have been a real stinker

Oh it was. The plastic was so thin to the point that you could put it in front of a light and see straight through the controller (try it). Gripping the controller tighly will cause it to make an audible creak too. Analog sticks have little resistance compared to DS3, etc etc... it's basically the worst quality Playstation pad of the three consoles Sony released. They skimped on quality to keep costs down, using cheap components and very thin plastic.

I wouldn't stop there. I'd describe it as the worst pad to a major console ever.
As soon as I get a job this is first on my agenda.

i got mine Saturday and although the plastic is sturdy i'm abit dissappointed with the rumble. Its not very strong - well i don't think it is, been playing Drakes Fortune and Burnout Paradise demo and it seemed weak to me. Also noticed no difference what so ever in using the sticks for aiming, for me it seems excatly the same as the six-axis in aiming.

I have never been fussed about rumble, in fact I used to sometimes find it distracting, but I like it in the Dualshock 3, it seems more subtle than previous rumble controllers I have used. The build quality is definately a lot better, but the weight neither adds nor detracts from the experience IMO as once you have got over the initial feel when picking it up you quickly forget about how heavy or light it is.

I don't think that was down to cheap plastic but rather was intended to be like that as it's the same plastic as what is on the PS3. Take off the HDD bay cover or the card reader cover and hold it up to the light and you will see through it.

Go play UT3 with it, you will get RSI!

Try WarHawk for massive rumble!

The sticks issue, my SixAxis are fine but my mates one is terrible especially when playing unreal 3.

Not noticed any difference in the analogue sticks but it feels a better weight and more balenced. Obviously there no improvement to the trigger placement which is a shame, think il get RSI from the triggers before the vibration does it ;)

Aren't the dead zones also improved with the new DS3?

The dead zones on the Sixaxis controllers I've got are appalling, making FPS games practically inplayable.
