whats this I hear about graphics cards being released this week?
whats being released? and will it affect prices?

The 3870X2 is arriving any day now. Its basically 2 ATI 3870XTs on one board (not like the 7950GX2 which used two cards bodged together). If drivers are good, it would likely be marginally faster than crossfired 3870XTs due to lower latencies etc, which makes it about ~20% faster than an 8800Ultra, but who knows.
They're looking to be £250-300.

It probably wont affect prices too much as it fills a niche market, like the Ultra and GTX.

Who knows tbh, we'll find out when the NDA is lifted and the reviews come out. Judging by the other cards it'll be a monster WITHOUT AA though, which if you're going to play at higher resolution may also be important to you.

I am definitely gonna look at getting one of these, as looking at my fabulous Crysis benchmark result i need a bit of a boost.

Then once it is bought i can think about getting a nice 22" monitor to partner it, as i know that a 17" tft is a bit of waste with it as i can only get up to 1280x1024.

tbh 1 3870 would run crysis well @ high 1650x1050l. i get about 33fps at that settings, its only when you raise the res you'll need more gpu power / crossfire. but if you can afford a 3870x2 you won't be disappointed,

Thinking about getting one then...

A bit of wait and see for me. If it offers much more than the GTX then depending on price it may be worth considering.

Not long now then....
