Some bozo thought it'd be a good idea to whisk the United players off to Saudi for an exhibition game straight after the away game at Reading.

Al Helal (meat?) play United at 5pm GMT, and its live on MUTV.

Just look at how chuffed everyone is to be there:

Ronaldo looks like he's gonna snap if one more person touches him in the last picture. Tevez has got his eye on him though incase he's the target.

I can't believe anyone would think this is a good idea right in the middle of the season :-/

We've got a tight schedule coming up... Spurs on Sunday in the FA Cup, Pompy on Wednesday then Spurs again on Saturday.

I'd imagine (or hope at least) that Fergie will field a majority reserve side in the games so that players that have found themselves out of favour in the first team will get a chance to play and you'd see our big players play only small parts during the game.

We did this last year with Man United verses European XI.
Fair enough it raised over £1 million for charity and it was nice to celebrate 50 years in European football... but it was a semi-needless game and couldn't have helped fatigue during the close of the season.

I mean look at what happened in the FA Cup final, we got beat because we were absolutely knackered at the end of a long season. (Not that Chelsea weren't knackered either)

The idea of a mid season break is one thats getting touted more and more often as more continental managers enter the premiership, but shoving games like this in when we've got a weeks break doesn't exactly help the matters of an already very busy season.

Well that's what happens when you are the top team, I mean you don't see Wigan or Blackburn flying around the world for a friendly, maybe they need to sell more shirts in the middle east.

there won't be highlights of this on terrestrial TV AFAIK as MUTV have the UK rights to this.

United team to start was:

VDS

Simpson Rio O'Shea Evra

Ronaldo Eagles Fletcher Nani

Anderson

Tevez

2-1 to united after 35 mins, Tevez and Ronaldo with Uniteds goals, Tevez's was good.

VDS off for PIG after 30, all three keepers getting 30 mins each I think.

As a football fan I feel gutted for them. They just look totally out of it which isn't surprising. This kind of game is pointless. They're Victims of the souless medium that is football these days and Manu are a profit making business which clearly wants, well, more profit. Hence they're over there in that part of the world :(

As an Arsenal fan I couldn't give a rat's ass, I'd love it if Ronaldo gets injured for a few games I'd like to see how they cope without him :)

They've just got a pen. Rio knocks it out for a corner, non of their players appeal and te the ref gives a pen, not a clue what for. SAF just laughs, 2-2.

It's a shame Neville couldn't have been fit really as this would have been a good practice game for him. The more Rooney plays the better he gets after injuries so I wouldn't mind seeing him getting 45 minutes.
