So from that site ...basically it's saying it's not worth going to a 3870x2 on a pci-e 1.1 board.

That HIS looks LOUD, hope the noise isnt intrusive as that would rule it out of my consideration.

Would make no sense for ati to make the fan loud considering the 3870's were quiet. To me the fan appears to be the same as the one on the 2900xt but it does look larger so hopefully quieter.
