I watched a documentary on comets this morning, the incident in Russia had nothing to do with plasma discharge or ion transfer. Apparently it was caused by a comet exploding on it's entry to earth known as an 'air burst'

no but thats not neccessarily a good thing - smaller it is more time mavity has to have an effect on it.

remember the moon will have a part to play in it too - it will come between both the moon and the earth - frighteningly close!
