Free Site for share prices

Lots of them if you don't mind having data that's 15 minutes out of date.
BBC business, Yahoo finance etc.

If you want proper live data then AFAIK it costs, I'm certainly not aware of anywhere that provides it for free.

^ agree entirely with above.

If you're trading fairly regularly then it's worth getting an online trading account which may provide near real-time data as well.

As above really, probably looking 15 mins behind.

I'd recommend ADVFN and Digital Look. Also ShareCrazy is quite good.

Stinky, a little worried about your shares? i know i am, im looking at them constantly ive lost a fair old sum overnight tbh. But i cant see the country going into full-blown recession?

im looking at starting to dabble into now that its hitting rock bottom

i think there is a little more downfall to come. But now would be a good time to start building a slow investment, i wouldn’t recommend investing heavily at this point.

Ive lost my Lotus Exige car fund overnight :(

i would invest on a small amount at the moment.

i can see them goign down more yea, but not a huge amount. just my thoughts anyway. its only an idea at the moment.

Kai, what do you have shares in?

That's what people thought in late 1929 too, not saying we're going to get that again but if you're inexperienced at investing in shares not might not be the best time to go about it.

Yup, I think there is scope for more downward pressure yet - we still don't know the full impact of all the credit problems in the US, and its going to be a while before we do.

Glad I sold all mine several months ago. Not at their peak but nearly £1-a-share better than where they're at now. Still in the Employer's SAYE scheme but at least I can sit on those for a while. It's no dot com bubble (yet), but it appears tech stocks have lost 30-50% on average over the last 6 months or so.

well it boils down to the USA is in a pickle. Everyone will be affected by whatever happens there. Just depends how bad it gets for them.

Kai, what do you have shares in?

I have a lot of shares put into pharmaceutical companys in the FTSE and the Dow

Buying on a downward trend is a recipe for disaster if you don't really know what you're doing. You may think they've hit rock bottom, but there's always room for more.

thats what i was thinking about. i always see Pharmaceutical companys as more of a long term investment?

i have invested heavily over the last few years into pharmaceuticals and it has really paid off, Its a steady but good investment i have found for the long run but in one night i have more or less lost most my gain. Will be ringing my financial adviser tonight, see where i go from here :( and what pot i should put my money into to gain some of my profits back.

Last time something like this happend my advice was im young and can take it on chin! great advice considering he takes a cut out my profits.

it is good advice. so do you invest more into the thousands then into cheap shares? or is it all expensive stuff?

To hijack it somewhat...

Anyone know any good sites to buy shares from? All the ones I've seen seem dubious.
