Be going to church, will I.

Isn't this recognised as a genuine religion now?

It says in the article that it isn't. People think it is because it had it's own code on the census form, but that's just because so many people put it down, not because it's considered an actual religion.

Don't see why it shouldn't be counted as an actual religion. These people presumably don't believe star wars is real but they do seem to think there's value in the Jedi "way of life". As crazy as it sounds, it's as valid as any other belief.

"We had a knowledge of the Force from that and the teachings of Yoda. We've read the teachings on the internet."

If memory serves me correctly it was recognised as a valid census answer, due to the number of people (Jedi became something like the fourth largest religion in the UK according to the census results). In order to be officially deemed as a religion, it would have to be recognised by the Charities Commission.

Or something like that.

I put jedi down on the census, if i remember rightly according to the census there are more jedi's than jews or sikhs.

that figure of 390k backs that up, there are more people who put jedi than jew, buddhist or sikh
but i'm pretty sure it used to have jedi listed on statistics.gov and it doesnt seem to be now
