About a week ago I hit a massive pothole which was obscured by rain, in the dark, on one of the towns main roads. Next day there was a cone in the hole, two days later it was repaired. Now my car has failed its MOT due to wheel damage because of this.

Alloys too, so probably expensive :(

Are there any routes I can take to get the money from the council? Theyve just repaired a fair few potholes on the same road with even more marked with cones.

You got any proof? Best idea would have been photographic evidence of the pothole and also damage incurred at the time.

a man in yorkshire got £900 for hitting a hole ont he m1 for damage to his wheel and he claimed allsorts on top

my dad hit a pothole, got a puncture, took pictures of it and stuff and the council gave him money for a new wheel and tyre, although in your case since its been fixed i dont think there will be much you can do. always worth a shot though :)

iirc the council only have any liability for potholes if the hole had previously been reported to them and they had failed to fix it within a reasonable time.

Oh right thanks ,have asked before but no one would tell me :D

You should investigate the history of the internet.

Originally when communication over the internet was by Bulletin Board Service and by Internet Relay Chat there was no graphical element only text characters. Symbols were made up to represent emotion of the writer in an icon form which two words were shortened to form emoticon, the smileys that people use are based on these. ;¬] :-{P

Erm OT tough luck, proof is always essential. :/

why did the pot hole make you fail it/?

Because he drove into it ,and due to flooding,he did not see it.

I'd imagine he has more chance of becoming the next Pope than a successful claim for damages to his car.

If however, the OP was to goto an accident claim specialist, complaining of the "whiplash";) from his unfortunate pot holing experience, he'd probably get some kind of result!

Not saying its right just saying it probably would happen!

Your council should have a number on it's website for road maintenance queries, just give them a ring and find out,

Just don't be an arse on the phone and you might get somewhere,
