Goth who walks fiancée on a leash is banned by bus driver who told: 'No dogs allowed'

This thread has definitely got some opinions going.

My 2 cents: They are probably harmless and should be allowed on a bus.

But - it's pretty odd behaviour, which would offend a lot of women. E.g. quote from dailymail comments.
Not big on pride or dignity is she? What a sad example of womankind.
I'd suspect they lead a very kinky private life (nothing wrong with that)
I would be concerned for the girl if the guy left. She's so dependant on the guy, not talking financially. I guess she could get back on myspace and appeal for someone else to lead her everywhere and tell her exactly what to do 24/7

They deserve to be refused because they are so weird, maybe if they grew up and started being normal they would be allowed on a bus.

Ouch, who has the right to decide what is normal?

Yes i agree they maybe be seeking attention or rebelling against one thing or another, but i would much prefer to be a bit weird than to be a mindless drone the same as everyone else, there is a word for that one.. and its called communism :D

Personally i find the opinions of a lot of people in this thread very narrow minded, they both seem to be happy with their lives, the fact that he got beat down and called the bus driver a facist instead of fighting back and or stabbing him (like many other social groups would have) shows they were not a threat to the bus driver or any other passenger so were discriminated against on the grounds of being different, ok they are different by choice but still its not a large leap from different due to race or gender (i will never accept religion as a reason as thats a choice too). What about as someone has mentioned a person in a Burka, those are only worn by women (sexist) and are part of a religion that does consider women to be second class citizens...and make you stand out just as much as the goths.. yet im pretty sure no bus driver would dare kick a person off a bus for wearing one... Maybe if enough people stood up they could get goth to be classed as a religion and then everything would be fine :)

As for going on the bus with swastika tattoos or full kkk gear.. no difference its discrimination against a persons individual choice...

For the record i would be consdered a "greebo" which i spose is a cross between a goth and a rocker, i wear a lot of black, some of my clothing does have chains on it (although none around my neck) and i have on occasion had comments on how i dress

Yet anyone that knows me would agree that i am probably the happiest, most easy going person they know... i just like the style

umm forgotten where i was going with this a long time ago... oh one final thing, there are 2 standards of women (OMG!) celebrities and normal people... celebs get rated on a much higher standard that your usual person, but despite this even when people say britney has turned into a total crazy and is only a 4 deep down they know they still would ;D

ps. i would also like to know the shop to buy a goth chick on a chain, does anyone know where it is? i have tried camden with no luck :D

I have no problem with the lifestyle choice of the two people in this thread (well, with the exception of the benefits thing, obviously). If they are happy, that's the key to them, and as long as there's no coercion involved in making her behave that way, who are we to interfere.

The crux of the matter, to me, is that these people want the right to be different, which is fine, yet they wish to remove the right of other people to make a judgement based on their choices. It doesn't matter whether that judgement is right or wrong, in a free society we are free to make those judgements, we are free to discriminate, in fact we do it all the time. Every job interview involves discrimination, purchasing decisions involve discrimination, it's a fact of life.

I support the couple's right to live the way they want, but I also support the right of others to discriminate against them for their choices. I wouldn't, personally, discriminate against them, but I do discriminate against other lifestyle choices or affiliations that I find disagreeable or unsavory, and that right is very important.

Rest of your post made sense but that ^^?

Big difference. A swastika shows your support for a facist ideal with a history of genocide based on religion and race, bit different to liking rock music

Yes your perfectly allowed not to agree with facism, but then your perfectly allowed not to agree with democracy or communism or any other government type.... if i went on a bus with a nice big tattoo saying Democracy Man then technically that would be the same thing... ok so democracy doesn't advocate some of the more brutal things that fascism does but still some people could be against democracy and would be perfectly within their rights to do so

The couple, who live on benefits in a council house and plan to start a family, have been friends for years.

Says it all, more people that expect others to pay for there family.

Did democracy kill 6 million jews?

Some sources say as many as 655,000 innocent civilians have died in iraq since 2003 due to the war ..... were they gassed? no but no matter how they died bringing democracy to iraq has killed over half a million people and is still going up

Anyway the point is people are allowed their opinions, freedom of speech and what have u... as long as you dont actually kill 6 million jews then you cant be done for it

If she wants to act like a dog to the point she gets her boyfriend to 'walk' her why is it somehow not fair for me to judge her as such and treat her as such?

eaxctly...on the one hand you declare yourself a pet..then you change your mind when it suits you

if she wants to be taken as a pet then she needs to accept everything that goes with..otherwise whats the point

Because she hasen't given you her consent to treat her like that. Much like S&M I would presume..ie if you go into a S&M club you can't just start whipping people without asking them.

If a girl in a bikini is at a beach, do you have every right to stand in front of her perving at her boobs for 10 minutes, even when she shusshing you away?
