Do you find overweight people attractive?

Obesity doesn't make you prone to colds, so I don't know exactly what your point is. At the end of the day obesity is not a tick on your 'bill of health', it is big fat X.

No, being unhealthy makes you prone to catching colds and virus's etc, of which she does not. So there is a big fat tick for being healthy.. which is my point.

It is unfortunate though, that being heavily overweight or obese is becoming a normal thing.

I think it is a natural knock-on effect of the size zero culture among some female actresses, etc.

Society as a whole demonstrates outrage against the women who are seen to be encouraging young girls to be painfully skinny, and you get people thinking it is OK and even possible to be healthy whilst being obese.

So somebody who is obese is healthy becuase she hasnt got a cold?

Do you actually believe that? I think its time to face facts..

Thats aerobic fitness though, and as I'm sure you already know can be improved with exercise,

Being obese (I'm not for a minute implying your mrs is) leads to thing like high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, so obeseity is unhealthy.

She does not have diabetes or HBP :]

You can see how much fat she is carrying, it's not like there is any doubt over whether it's fat or lean muscle... she's almost certainly in very overweight, if not obese.

She is overwieght, but whether she is obese would need to be diagnosed. You would need to check how much body fat she actually has. The BMI system by doing hight/wieght x personal opion is flawed.

You're getting confused between obese and clinically obese. Clinically obese is what you're referring to. She is obese.

What do you think she is - overweight? Overweight can mean just even slightly too much for your height. Obese means obviously fat, which is what she is.

No I'm not.

Definition of obesity: Obesity is an excess of body fat that frequently results in a significant impairment of health.

She is fat, she is overwieght, claiming she is obese is down to your opinon and should not be portrayed as fat.

My partner is healthy, she walks plenty (including a huge hill to get home) and is on her feet all day, she is a veggie so eats plenty of greens and takes a few vit supps to cover things she doesnt get from her natural diet.
She walked 3 miles on treadmill last night (in a short time at a fast pace) and didnt break a sweat, where as i had started sweating after 4 minutes at the same pace.

you are at a higher risk of some things, but that does not make you unhealthy, it just makes you potentially more prone to things.

Wow, you really are quite deluded. The amount of times I've heard larger people say they are 'healthy' is quite amusing.

Sorry to be rude but.... she walks up a huge hill to get home?? Well done! That must burn off all of, what, 50 calories? That's about quarter of a packet of crisps.

Being a vegetarian does not automatically make you healthy. A lot of people think that being vegetarian = instant health. Vegetarians can still eat chocolate, crisps, cheese, bread, have sugar, wine and beer, all of which make you fat.

As for vitamin supplements, having vitamins does not make you healthy either. In fact, vegetarians naturally need more vitamins than meat eaters because of the deficiency in their diets [esp of Vit B and Omega 3]. Being healthy is about eating the right things, not exceeding the calorie count for your particular lifestyle and having regular exercise.

No fox, stop taking one point out of many.

Being grossly overweight is never good, no matter how you paint it. The person may be healthy at a certain point, but that will change if their lifestyle and excess weight does not.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. You are trying desperately to convince yourself that obese is healthy. I dont know why, but you need to see reality. It is not healthy. If you or someone you care about is obese you should take steps to fix the problem not bury your head in the sand pretending everything is ok.

To be honest I think it's more to do with our lifestyles becoming more sedentry and comfortable, couple that with the fact that at the moment large ammounts of unhealthy foods are avaiable then you get people who just can't be bothered to exercise or eat healthy food that requires a little more effort to prepare.

I never said that being a veggie or taking sups makes you healthy.
The walk home from work would burn more than 50 calories, im quite sure of that. Given that she is on her feet all day long walking around (and then to and from home / work).

She signed up to the doctors recently and had some tests, BP, HR and colestorol levels are all within normal.

No fox, i am not trying to convince myself that obese is healthy, i am saying that my partner who is a size 18 is healthy.

Where do you think that because someone is overweight they eats bags of crips and sweets? Just because someone is overwieght does not suddenly make them unhealthy. Can you prove otherwise?

Clearly yes, because there is a RISK of being unhealthy automatically makes them unhealthy. Good logic :]

How do you know she is obese? Carrying a 'little extra fat' is not obese. I don't see him trying to portray that fact meerley you assuming becasue she is a a size 18 she must be obese.

If you're obese your heart has to work harder to pump the blood around your body. Just because she may not show any negative symptoms now- prolonged obesity especially into later life is extremely dangerous.
