CH-47 Chinook just landed yards from my house.

I served 4 yrs on Chinooks in the RAF as load master back in the late 90's early 00's. How ever cool they look and no matter how much fun it was playing with GMPG's and Mini guns, Im now kind of deaf from it, and they're also prone to crashing as i saw very close up for myself. We actually did a few flights to school where we landed in the playign fields, and one of them was an intentional stop :D

Who was it that posted a few weeks ago thinking the government were after him because they kept flying choppers around his house?

That had me laughing for a while...

Bloody amazing things those Chinooks! Love the display at aishows, especially when the pilot puts it's nose 90° straight down.

Every day I regularly hear helicopters take off not far from me, but every once in a while I hear a noise that is slightly different to the usual fayre..... the sound of freedom! The great WokkaWokka descends from above and I rush to my window to watch it come in to land.

Man Chinooks are fricking awesome.

i absoluty LOVE the sound they make :D

Ditto, you've got to respect a machine that makes that kind of loud noise.

I see and hear them occasionally landing and taking off at RAF Innsworth. That'll be a thing of the past come March though :(

That's where I live, 50m from a RAF base (no runway), and 1000m from Gloucester airport. I love it.

When I had a 1 hour flight at the airport, the Chinook landed, I was stood on the fuelling platform probably about 10 meters from it. The amount of air that thing displaces nearly took me off my feet.

My school had a Chinook land in its field, was an air cadet thing, trying to get more recruits! They didn't get any, but the helicopter was awesome! And it was VERY windy lol

I live right under the approach to RAF Odiham (the Chinooks main base) and about 2 miles from the threshold. They are all I EVER hear lol, although we do get the occasional Apache, Hawk, Spitfire, Dakota etc!

oh and I've also flown in one! We flew down the M3 into the centre of London and then landed down inside a building, was very cool!
