Has anyone tried these?

My mate has them on his car and under full lock conditions at low speed you can hear them judder as the tyre rotates and half the V groove contacts the road ( Tread is Perpendicular to the tyre direction)

Reason I ask is that he is also haveing an issue with tyre wear on the outside of both front wheels. Half the tread is worn down to almost the indicators after only 5months (4k max.) of being on the car, thats without driving like a loon. It does seem to struggle for grip so I'm wondering if there's an alignment issue, even though tracking was fine.

He hates the tyres and blames them, but i certainly wouldnt expect them to be bad for grip (GSD-3)

Tyre psi sounds a bit low tbh.

I don't rate Eagle F1's though, they were awful on my Civic.

He's running the recommended pressure, standard tyres are P-Zero rossos, could be a issue with soft sidewalls of the F1s.

I thought they made a massive difference when I had them on the LCR. Grip was improved 10 fold, from the standard tyres.

I had this very same judder on full lock and uneven wear on my Mondeo, with F1's fitted.

Turned out to be an allignment issue - had the car fully laser alligned and it fixed the problem completely.

The 'soft sidewalls' issue becomes less of an issue the lower profile the tyres are. It's pronounced on the 530d with 225/55/16's but I can't notice it at all on the 530i with 265/35/18's.

Thats not mine thats from a Cupra R.

Mine ended up like this

Gave up on them after that happened. :p

I found them to give awesome cornering, both wet and dry conditions, but yes, they wore away very VERY quickly on the edges. Was getting through a set in 6k~

Having said about the "awesome cornering", this would only be until the edges started to give, after that, the bite was gone. Putting power down in a straight line still worked, but cornering went soft.

EDIT: That first pic mike posted was mine! - http://homepage.ntlworld.com/l0rdmike/Car/EF1.jpg

I think it must depend on the geometry of the car - they wore at the sides on the Mondeo (and to a certain extent still do, I need to get the alignment checked) but on both the 5 Series they wear perfectly evenly.

Every time I had them fitted (3 pairs of fronts), I had the tracking done. I also had the tracking done on its own at a "specialist", made no difference.

Fox will spit (after reading the other thread), but I'm now on Falken FK452's and find them to be just as good grip wise... however longetivity I cannot comment on yet.

Tracking and geometry are 2 different things.

I do realise this, I just wanted to make it clear that it wasn't my tracking being out that was causing the wear.

The car has been Geo'd but only the once, when I first got it.
