Valve and CCP announce that EVE Online is now being offered via the Steam online content delivery service, and the arrival of the science fiction MMORPG on Steam has inspired them to offer a 21-day free trial for the game as well as a $5.00 discount off the first full month's subscription fee for Steam users.

:D

They cant remove bob as im pretty sure their employees are still legally allowed to play the game ;)

Still an influx of players may well lead to an expansion in the size of the galaxy, fresh places to explore etc.

EVE is already saturated with players/alliances to the point that any newly added space would immediately be claimed by the nearest alliance. The only way to remedy this is to introduce so much new space that it cannot be held by a single alliance or group of alliances.

What we need is the same player-to-space ratio that we had about 4 years ago, which means increasing the amount of space in EVE by a factor of about 4 or 5.

What would be nice is roaming npc rats in dreads/carrier etc that bounce around blowing up pos' in some new space.

I think this is good in a lot of ways, bad in others. The lag could get bad, but I do actually have confidence in CCP (unlike other MMO companies) to step up to the plate and invest the money where it is needed in hardware/infrastructure.

This confidence could be a little misplaced however as their hardware and operating system choice is a bit shakey  Windows OS that requires rebooting everyday at 11am...

I enjoyed playing EVE, but it just took too long to do anything... I might give it another go, seeing as Trinity has just been released. Quite a few guys here at uni play it.
