Pinstripes

Braces! Haha! Tempting.

Nah it's going to be a girly shirt left un-tucked, so braces are DEF a no-no!

They're extreeemely high-waisted trousers, the pinstripe detours about half an inch off-course around the outside of my hips but seems to reset fine at the base of the jacket, a female housemate couldn't see any problem in it :)

Picture is terrible, pose is terrible, pinstripes may as well be invisible, but I was so pleased that the thing fitted me last night that I had to take a picture:

It is better to wear a full suit whenever possible, but if the problem is quite noticeable then I think you should wear a different pair of trousers. However, and this is crucial: when wearing mismatched trousers and blazer, the difference must be stark! If you wear mismatched items that look similar, but which are obviously not matched, it looks very bad because it makes it seem as though you're trying to fool people/get away with it.

A-ha!

So if I go with the black trousers, I should pull out my posh cream blazer instead, maybe...

Definitely wear that one, it shows off an excellent figure whilst remaining professional. Wear a collared shirt though.

And get some braces on, you can borrow a pair of my Albert Thurstons :D

Thanks for the offer pet, but I have no buttons on said trousers!

Also I'd feel a little ridiculous (seriously, the waist is raaather high) which would rather negate the whole confident feeling...

Ooh, collared. I was going to go for a shirt with a grandad-collar (if that's the right term), open at the neck. Is that not done?

Oi, not only do I have spammers in my thread, but what are they talking about? Spamming!

sorry. i did read your thread on interview i think. was it your having 2 interviews?? lol

good luck though :) hope it all works.

*picture works now, go with the suit*

Right idea, but I dunno about black & cream as a combination. That might be a bit too stark. I was thinking more along the lines of black & grey. I have an expensive black suit, the trousers of which had it long ago. All three pieces have a distinctive patterning, so I couldn't just replace with some new black trousers. I consigned the waistcoat to the moths and now wear smart grey trousers with the black blazer.

A man definitely couldn't pull off black & cream, but as a woman you might be able to...what do other women think? :)

If you have time to put up a picture of the two laid out together, I'd be happy to give a male opinion on the combination, for what it's worth.

Haha, well maybe I'll manage to do so before Monday, otherwise it looks like the suit's a go-er!

Yes I think we have rather more slack rules in what we can get away with, thankfully :)

Looks like it fits you perfectly Sara!

Otherwise go for the cream blazer and black trousers over the pinstripe jkt and black trousers ;)

And good luck!
