Hi.
Do any 32"+ 1080p, 24p & 100hz tellys exist yet?

As they were few and far between 4-6 months ago?

Thanks. :).

AFAIK still only one 1080p 32" out, and its a Sharp.

I think Toshiba have one due out, but i don't know when.

100hz is a nothing technology for marketing only.

You couldn't and wouldn't want it to be doing 100hz to a 24p signal. If you want it to be doing 100hz to a 50hz signal all it is doing is adding a black frame to try and trick you eyes into not seeing the motion blur from LCD pixel refresh but most of the time it will make the image worse.

I would expect the demand for such technology in a 32" is pretty low? I mean 1080p at 32" is overkill on it's own, you'd have to fit <2ft away. Cramming in 24p support and 100hz scanning means more expensive internals... can't see the point, would surprise me if there were many/any. Go bigger :)

The OP did write 32"+

My pioneer LX508D plasma supports 1080p@24hz,,and does 100hz with SD

Try using a 32" 720P TV as a PC monitor then use a 32" 1080P then say it is overkill. :)

The difference will be huge.

May I ask then, leaving the so called '100mhz' spec out, what sort of 32+ TV's are around at the moment?

I find it hard to see whats what now online, some/most website do NOT tell you the full and correct spec details.

Cheers.

Wouldn't 100 Hz processing on a 24p source defeat the point? I thought 24p was so that you could see the raw frames untouched by any alteration or skipping.

It does not add a black frame, it interpolates the frames or uses motion estimation to generate an intermediate one. Giving a much smoother image. Try it yourself on your computer using ffdshow.

Rule 1) of buying a TV

dont buy it based on the spec sheet and fancy industry Buzz Words

1080p is pointless on a 32" unless you buying a computer monitor. Buy the Dell 30" instead of you want that

100hz processing is largely gimmicky on all but the £3,000 Sonys. And even then its debatable as to the benefits, as it largely gets turned off watching Hi Def movie content as it messes with the 24p effect.

There is a new batch of 32" 1080p sets coming out. The Panasonic 32LZ800 is one of them and there is also a couple of Sony's on the way also. As mentioned, I think the Sharp is the only one currently available.

There is a sony set out now 32" that does 1080p my friends got it. Ive also seen it in pc world..

Well as people can work out from my posts im a bit of a kuro convert. I think they are overpriced at 1800, but down at 1300-1400 they really are worth the extra over other tvs. WHY... i hear you say ???? Well because they put all others to shame !

For example, does the pioneer 4280XD kuro have 100hz and 1080p ?

NO, but it looks better than every other plasma and LCD available (in a normal viewing situation say 8ft away).

But always let your eyes decide, and take some blu rays/hd-dvds into a store and get them to hook you up for some proper comparisons. O and don't forget to get some rough setting tweaks off avforums, as all tvs in stores are setup with MAX brightness, contrast, and all other useless settings that make them look much worse.

The Toshiba Z series LCD's (37/42/47/52/60), have 120Hz, 24fps (properly done with 5:5 pulldown)...

The 120Hz processing is regarded as decent, the 24fps support is OK and you can have pure 24fps with 5:5 pulldown, or you can have it motion interpolated (even smoother)..

Prices are also 'keen'...

The main reason im looking at 24p/100hz stuff is because i keep getting sound/video sync problems. I was thinking that its possibly my current TV thats the culprit.
So as im thinking of upgrading my telly to a bigger model, i might as well get some decent features on it. :p.

My mate has been getting sound/video out sync with his new Panasonic 42pz70 TV :(
