PMKeates, out of interest, why were you travelling that fast in a 30?

I'd be interested to know this too.

In a hurry to get somewhere important? Streets were deserted because it was 3am?

edit - not the latter, I just re-read the OP and see it was 5.45pm. Hmm.

You mentioned you "deny the claims" that you were doing the speeds stated without anyone asking, therefore should be able to answer the question of what speed you feel you were doing openly.
I deny the accuracy of the statement of facts. That may not have any relevance to the speed.

I WILL NOT STATE THE SPEED I BELIEVE I WAS TRAVELLING AT ON THESE FORUMS

Well having seen you driving like a numpty before, I can't say I'm surprised.

What road was it on?
If I say it, I'll have every member of these forums looking it up. But, it is in the court summons, so I will say it. Claudian Way.
In what way do you deny it? :)
I'm not going to say that either!

I will not say anything on particulars relating to aspects of this case outside of the information that will be public record.

Lol, I highly doubt it isn't if I'm honest.

I say in my first post:

PMKeates said:
It seems an indefendable case written the way it is, but I really feel wronged in the part the reads "One motorist had to pull out of the way of the defendant, waving wildly in the direction of travel of the defendant". "pull out of the way"? That's total rubbish.

Have come to this thread late so don't know if its been answered but:-

1. Defending this claim doesn't cost £3k. You're looking at about £500 for your solicitors and about £500 for the brief for Counsel. With VAT and bits 'n bobs about £1500 in total. The hearing won't be more than an hour evening with sentencing. Criminal work pays peanuts for solicitors no way in a million years will it cost £3,000 even with defence costs.

2. You're looking at a mandatory 3-9 points. Probably 6-9 points + fine if you have a good statement in mitigation - explain that you're contrite, that you're sorry, silly thing to do etc. Mag will probably deliberately scare you at the start of pre-sentencing.

If you committed the defence, you'd be foolish to try and defend it - if you're found guilty, you'll get no sympathy from the magistrate in terms of sentencing.

60mph down a side street in a built up area at 5pm on a Sunday with overtaking! What were you smoking?

Up on the moors with no-one around I would have some sympathy with. Here's hoping you get a deserving punishment and restricted to 5 years in a 1 litre Metro.
