Hi Guys

Popped to my local Sony Centre yesterday and saw the above tv for £630, picture quality looks fantastic (well compared to my 26" JVC that's 7+ years)

If I got the the 40" the price jumps considerably, they said the 37" is 1080i but would be 'P' if we went higher......

Has anyone in here got this tv? Any comments on it?

Lastly is that a good price with 5 years warranty as well? :)

From what I have read on avforums people are not too impressed with the quality of the Sony. Its a good price with the warranty but its not 1080p and there are much much better TVs for the same price. For example £650ish for the Toshiba 37X3030DB or spend £700 and get the Samsung M87... best value LCD for the money.

edit: Just found that sony was available before christmas for under £480 from a big retailer, so £630 with five years warranty isnt that great.

Yes I saw that too............

OK back to the drawing board then, I will start looking at the Samsungs again

Thanks

Edit: Samsung - LE37M87BDX/XEU £674.90 looks good :)

I've sent back a hanspree and samsung 37" since Christmas with faults and quality issues. Did the same as you and looked at the Sony 37" at around the same price as you, liked it did a google search for the cheapest reputable seller and saved over 100 quid. get it tommorow, so will keep you posted.

Put it up last night around 1am, amazing thing, unlike both 37"ers I tried before this one didn't need "Tweaking" to get a good picture, it was 99% good out of the box with just a brightness/backlight adjustment needed for me to feel the blacks were black enough. But otherwise hands down a better picture for SD than both the others.

Also as I was moving from a 28" sony trinitron to this, my sky remote didn't even need recoding! :) Small thing but nice.

And when you turn it on the first time it asks you if you want to do the automatic setup which finds all the channels, sets up the freeview etc, and if you say no you can run it later.

All in all very pleased with it, classic Bravia looks, quality remote and materials, no silly glossy piano black bezel. Perfect :)
