"War on Scientology"

Has anybody really been defending Scientology?

What's the big deal about Scientology? I find it no more ridiculous than the other hair brained stories from the main religions. I haven't seen you all signing up to a war on Christianity/Islam etc.

Nazis.

At least with Scientology I don't get a bunch of ****s turning up at my door trying to give me magazines and generally being a nuisance.

It isn't any worse than all other religions, also what about freedom of speech?

Seriously if you have an issue with people being exploited/opressed, you are targeting thee wrong groupo of people. I am not defending them but when you look into it and compare it to other religions it really is better/ no worse at least imo athiest opinion.

If I wasn't before I think I am now convinced that Scientology is a religion. Only religions tend to come in for this much flak, particularly from people stating their views opposing it are entirely logical and unbiased. Scientologists are the new Muslims.

As someone mentioned before most of the interest on the Anon planned protests has little to do with trying to take down Scientology for more appropriate reasons. Its just to see if they can. They're just trying to bring hacking into real life.

The purpose of most day to day hacking is the challenge of cracking a system. Anon wants to see if it can basically destroy a full on organisation in a similiar way.

Nonetheless i'll be going to Victoria street on the 10th just to see what happens. I reckon it'll just be another run of the mill protest that doesn't achieve anything.

edit:

As a though who organised the timing? I don't think the majority of channers will be up at 11am on a sunday? unless they've cut their online evenings short.

Wouldn't normally find myself condoning the activities of hackers, but when the target is a bunch of fruit loops like the CoS, they can go right ahead.

The fact that some people fall for Scientology's guff is living proof that a fool and his money are soon parted ... religion my arse

Judge for yourself:

I think that it is a religion, merely a statement of fact or perhaps opinion since it is still somewhat debateable what its status should be, I don't say I approve of some or all that is done in the name of Scientology.

What I am defending or trying to is the right of people to believe in whatever they want, again with the notable exception that I highlighted above, it mustn't directly harm another.

I just don't understand, ancient religions thrive and people still disbelieve them, like me.
But this is a mordern day religion, created from a science fiction writer..how they got away with it, beyond me.

This is like watching the bible being created for the first time and people following it.
It's sick.
