Football Fixture weekend 26/27th **SPOILERS**

I thought we were a lot better second half. Was lovely to see Scholes back and he did really well apart from one ridiculously stupid pass in our box, the downside to Scholes coming on was that Carrick had been excellent for the 10 minutes prior to his entrance.

Anderson, as per usual, was bloody brilliant when he came on. I thought Rooney wasn't selfish enough and his second touch was awful, Tevez was brilliant though and carried the team forwards in both halves. Another 2 goals from Ronaldo, he's just a phenomenon and one of the most talented players I've ever seen.

Overall I think everyone did pretty well bar Wes Brown who was woeful, he almost topped off one of his worst ever performances I can remember by knocking in an own goal, saved thanks to the post.

Van Der Sar - Rock solid at everything today with superb delivery.
O'Shea - Absolutely classy at everything he did today, played excellently.
Ferdinand - Saved the CB pairing, his interceptions were important, and bar Robbie Keane running around him for the goal, was faultless.
Brown - Woeful, he messed everything up, poor passing, slow in a tackle, at fault for the goal and almost scored an O.G.
Evra - Started off poor with Lennon having his life, second half he had Spurs in his pocket, and when he started getting forward he looked dangerous.
Ronaldo - Couldn't shoot in the first half, but always looked to get the cross in which was nice. He was faultless in his running with the ball and linked up well with Rooney, Tevez and Giggs.
Carrick - Useless in the first half, started to look like the player of last season in the second half before being taken off. Some nice passes.
Hargreaves - Brilliant, he stopped so many Tottenham moves, played the simple pass and had bags of energy.
Giggs - Wasn't out on the left enough and was guilty of holding on to the ball a little too much, but did well for the first goal.
Rooney - Second touch constantly let him down and at times and was guilty of not being selfish enough, but kept working hard for the team.
Tevez - My man of the match, he's a different class up front and his strength and vision are breathtaking at times.

Can't really complain about the penalty or the sending off. Well done for the rest of the team still giving everything when we went down to 10-men though. Hopefully Spurs can pick up another CB and another full back before the transfer window closes.
Apparently all Woodgate has to do is pass the medical, terms already agreed.

Someone on here said Evra was "the best left back in the World", I think he looked anything but the best left back in Manchester today - embarrasingly roasted with ease by Lennon, and distribution worse than the Royal Mail at Christmas.

Basically because he didn't get the ball, which was naiive on Spurs' part, as Evra was there for the taking.

Apart from the time he skinned him and left him flailing on the floor, only to chip onto the top of the goal, rather than pick out Keane at the back post!

Question for everyone - Did WBrown stop a definite goal, did he miskick and nearly score an own goal (what the commentary said) or was Berbatov unlucky? Personally think it was the first one, maybe it doesnt matter anyway
If he hadn't got a foot to it, I reckon Berbatov would have put it the other side of VDS so my view is that he stopped a definite goal. I don't think he actually intended to hit the post though! :p

I think we played ok. Not as bad as the BBC seemed to think.
I thought both Carrick and Owen stood out, both were excellent.
Rooney...frustrates me. He has all the talent in the world. But he will never be truly great until he has some measure of control over himself. Every 5 minutes he was looking like he wanted to take a swing at someone. Thats no way to play football and it's something which surely man utd must work on. It's all well and good talking about "take away the aggression, he's not as good". But for my money, thats only applicable when the aggression is controlled. Currently it is a handicap. I think this is reflected in how he will go 5 or 6 games, scoring each match. He is more relaxed, more happy. His football is better. But then after 2 or 3 goalless games, his anger rises, he starts to get annoyed and his football suffers.
However, Tevez was great. Both Anderson and Scholes gave great cameos.
Giggs needs to keep things more simple. When he does, hes still a good player. He needs to accept he cant beat 5 players anymore.

You mean apart from the second half where Lennon didn't get a touch?

I think thats more a reflection on spurs not getting forward as much and also when they did, failing to use him.
As highly as I rate Evra, he was as bad today as i can recall since he settled.
Going forward, nothing he tried came off and his defending was 50/50 at best.
Perhaps he missed the protection Vidic gives him in that respect.

That was me, and it was a question not a statement ;)

Do you mean when Evra slipped?

Peoples judgment about penalty's at OT have been distorted and manipulated so much by the media that now even blatant penalty's get people screaming conspiracy

Thouht Spurs were a bit unlucky today, up until United's second goal they'd created the most clear-cut chances but once Ronaldo scored the penalty United held on to the ball far better. Still could have equalised when Brown hit the post though....

Another page in "How i cant change a match" by S.G. Eriksson.

What a dolt the man is.

Oh and another year without a trophy for the hapless city.
