Nothing wrong with the Touaregs and coming down nicely in price since the new VW arrival.

IIRC, Tourag held up better in most test compared to the Disco and other such rivals.

nei, jeg er engelsk men jeg studerer norsk på universitet.. var på uio ifjor.. håper jeg skal tilbake for å undervise engelsk neste år

Just spoke with her, she knows she has to pay tax but says it is still a lot cheaper for her to take one from Germany with her when she moves.

So im going to look for the 3.0 TDI, thanks for the help

Paras im sorry but this thread is nonsensical and I dont see the point in people wasting their time 'advising'.

She knows she is going to have to pay tax but still thinks its cheaper? Nick has provided the tax figure. To import a 3 litre Toureg worth about £15-20k will cost an additional £38,000. This takes the cost to near £60k!

I'm sorry but nobody in their right mind would consider that and there is no way that 2004 Touraegs cost £60k on the used market in Norway.

She's spinning you a line or has no idea whats involved. Probably the latter.

fox, you'd be surprised
when i was in oslo i saw a volvo xc90 with 20,000kms on the clock for £100,000

some touaregs for sale on vw.no
http://www.volkswagen.no/wip4/vw/bruktbil_list.epl?brand=7&model=302
£1 = 10.8 NOK

so you have 2 2003 touaregs for sale, both with over 100,000km and both for over £70k, but they are the 5.0 V10 TDI versions

it probably does work out cheaper to buy one and import it tbh, plus you're going to have a much wider choice of cars in Germany than you will in Norway

Yah I think she thinks that the tax on a 20k car will be around 20k she will look into it properly tomorrow.

Also don’t forget the car will be sold for export so the VAT at 19% will be claimed back which makes it a little easier to stomach but not much.

If she does not save much there is not point anyway in getting here anyway.

Scary prices the top one in the list is a 3L TDI with 21000km on the clock for £86k. I take it the average salary is more than over here.

she is looking for a LHD here in Czech or Germany.

Generally when you emigrate from one country to another you do not have to pay the import tax/VAT on personal possessions (as long as you have owned them for over 6 months nomrally). This is how I planned to import the Cayman from the US (I have a green card) before I bought the 335.

And as to how she can afford to a 20k car as a uni student. Well let’s just say she comes from money. But its not inconceivable to own a decent car at uni, not too many students can afford a 530i when studying. I know you paid for it yourself but you still have family support (ie free food and rent). Im still a full time student but drive 30k car + have another 10k car for weekends :)

HOW DID YOU GET SO MUCH MONIES TO BUY THESE CARS
