As the title says i sent back my 2900 XT today. It started to have heat problems
it was idle at around 78c and underload around 99/100 with the fan blowing like a nutter it droped to around 95 and would just lock my pc up after a few hours gaming. If found faulty what card will i get back 2900 xt?

PS i know the card was not the best and i did feel i made a bad choice but gaming back on a 850 PE is shocking.

Depends on where you got it, and how old it is, if after 30 days it will no doubt be sent back to manufacturer (as mine is now, and have been told to allow for 30 day turn around (Sapphire)). I would expect to get either a replacement 2900 back (dont think they sold that many tbh and will no doubt have a room full of the things) or a refurbished one.

LOAM

Ye your right they prob got a room full of them. And mine was the OcUK model , i also got it in july. so over 30 days poor me.

Guess i can hope one thing going for me is that its a Ocuk brand may get sorted alittle quicker than the other dude who posted.

That would be great the 2900 is just a blow heater but i cant see it myself.tbh i would like to swap over to nividia a gt/gts if i had to pay some money on top i would not mind.LOL no dust in the heatsink i dont smoke well cant inside my house and its not been used much.Of cause it got a quick clean before i sent it in and i also checked it after the clean.

I can only hope I do get a 3870 back tbh, but i have been told it will take 30 days so the 9th Feb for me based on a 10th Jan return receipt.

Edit surely removing the Cooler would void the warranty ?

You can normally see down to the heatsinks through the slot end of the cooler. Don't have to remove the cooler, a can of compressed air can shift the heatsink caked in crud.

You're probably right, removing the heatsink would void the warrenty, but I'd rather check first then have to go through the process of an RMA, but that's just me personally.

the 2900 Pro was a HIS but the card i got back was an OcUK one, it took less than a week for the RMA

( gets me thinking if i should some how mess up my bfg 7800 agp card and see what new card they send me lol

But i dont think there a way of messing the card up and not getting caught out by the tech ppl lol
