18 year old + M5 and 5 friends =

That's the press tho, bend the truth in whatever way it suits them to sell a few papers. :o

I know :(

I hope he doesn't have a copy of GT4 for his PS2, otherwise that will be the cause of it all and the politicians will be trying to ban car games

The only sad part about this is the advice wasn't taken. Who knows his background? Rich parents or successful at 18.

I've loved cars from an early age and have always had that "Can't wait to get a Ferrari" type dream. At 17, barely on the road, you want to find your limits and you look up to the older people who have nice cars etc and you try and follow their lead. This is where the accidents happen I suppose. There's nothing in place to state the obvious to those special few who have access to this kind of machinery without real life experience and to those who think they're god in their 1L Ka.

I can only blame him for not taking the advice he originally sought after.

No idea how they managed:o

I've been over 200mph on an airfield driven by a 17 year a few times and over 190 in a few other cars he was driving. Age has nothing to do with it.

Does sound completely crazy, ie idiot driver. Who lets their child have that sort of car at that age? Lunacy!

However, at the same time tragically awful!

:(

i don't get it.

he's on an airfield..... by the sound of it no attempt to brake was made judging by the distance covered.

The video said there were some braking marks on the runway, guess he just didn't realise hpw long it actually takes to brake from 200mph.

im 19 and my parents are MAKING me pay for some type of sports car course before they let me park a 150bhp rwd coupe on the drive, i thought it was a gay idea at first, clearly not

You're 19, not 9! :p

I've managed to cope with 231bhp and RWD for almost a whole year now (18 when I got it, now 19) and haven't crashed, it just involves being... sensible ;)

I can see how it might of done it.

Its early in the morning, depending if the runway had lights on it at the time the driver might of known where the edge of the runway was. Broke too late and went sailing off the edge.

Hopefully this could be a lesson to other young drivers that have high performance cars, there are many out there, they need to take more care.

So glaringly obvious that it could and probably would happen. Sadly there are too many drivers out there, especially young ones, who think that they have enough experience and 'talent' to prevent this sort of thing happening to them.

You just have to read some of the posts on this forum to see how many people are worrying over-confident in their own abilities. When that's combined with a fast car, then sadly there is all too often a tragic outcome.

It doesn't matter how many people stand up and try to warn them of the dangers, or how many horror stories they read - there will always be people who think they know better and who are absolutely convinced that it won't happen to them.

equally there are plenty of old farts who think because they're older they've been blessed with driving abilities
