Does anyone else feel the need to park huge distances from supermarket entrances?

It's great finding a decent parking space at a supermarket...ample space for the doors and short walking distance especially when it's raining. Few weeks ago, I noticed a very minor dent on the rear wheel arch. You have to look closely to see it but it's still damage. The other day at ASDA, some guy parked up and just opened his door until it hit the car next to it. Most doors, once opened, slowly swing until they reach a certain angle and they sort of stay putt. Unfortunately this angle is usually beyond the point the door hits another car when parked up at supermarket. So this **** uses the car next to him. I saw him while I was parked up too so moved the car in case he decided to key mine as he wasn't too happy at my rather miffed expression. Lately I've been parking at the non-lazy end of the car park. If it was a cheap run about I would park it wherever but it's my dad's so I'm paranoid.

Our local Tesco has a few spaces that seem to have been designed especially for us drivers that want to avoid this.
Conveniently, they are placed very near the entrance.

Ive just bought a nearly car to replace my old banger, even with my old banger i used to be very careful with opening the doors in my car to avoid hitting/touching anyone elses car... But id park anywhere it would fit.

With my new car i have found myself passing many suitable parking spaces and either going between 2 nice looking newer cars or finding a huge space well away from anyone at all.

Ive noticed a lot of people dont give a flying about their cars and those of others around them. :(

Nope, you are not alone, I've got 2 dings from car parks.. I invariably park where it's quieter...

I won't mention how I sometimes park accross 2 spaces for what I feel is a legitimate reason, as that'll cause an uproar.. DAMN, did I say that out loud ;)

Always best to park a little further away from the supermarket entrance, but be able to open your doors/not have some idiot hit you.

However! If you park in the middle of nowhere at the back of the carpark, leaving yourself 5 empty spaces each side you can be sure someone will come and park right next to you.

Yep I used to do this...... till one day on the M6 services. I parked up miles away from anyone else as I had only recently got the Focus. On coming back there was a lovely dent in the rear wheel arch

I hate washing the car now, as every time I do I discover more scratches and dents :( It was mint when I brought it :/ Its purely inconsiderate people

*Looks over at the Mother and Child Parking spaces...*

Obviously I dont do that on a busy day.. only in mornings (6am time lol) but I tend to park next to the smallest car I possibly can..

I park at the far end of the car park but only becuase i prefer to have space to get out and load the car with my purchases. It also has the benefit of never sitting in a massive queue of people driving arround in circles trying to park outside the door

Plus my local Asda has far too many retard spaces. Also, i never get why parent and child spaces are by the door, they need space to get there children in/out but they aren't disabled and can walk more than 5 feet

Why should others care about you! It's the world we live in unfortunately!

True, but all the same I try to pass as much respect to other cars, not once have a clanged a door and if a bay is too tight, I wont use it and ill go elsewhere rather than squeeze in, its just common sense.

How great would it be if each space was a cubicle.:p

This guy I tell you. The way he swung his door was like a regular habit. Some supermarkets do have those extra wide spaces which is good. Retail parks can be especially bad and you just don't bother circuling at the front looking for a space and you just park it at a distance. When it's raining, you got no choice but to try and look for small or expensive cars. Mother and child is great but I only use them when it's quiet or the baby seat is strapped in but baby is at home. :p

I'm always careful where I park my car.

It still seems to have picked up a few dents though which weren't there until a few weeks ago :(
