To my laptop.

Running Vista HP (laptop is new from Dell).

SP1 installed yesterday and its version V.744

Well, since rebooting, I have lost all my quick launch icons (there is just a gap there now), my wallpaper is black, and the best bit?....this, in the corner of my screen.

Any ideas?

The mark in the corner of the screen is always there on the RC service packs, it'll be removed for the full thing.

Not sure why your wallpaper has gone black and your quicklaunch icons have gone though. Have you tried changing them back and checking the tickbox in taskbar properties for quicklaunch?

Remove the RC SP1 and wait until the release?

Inceidentally, I installed the RC Refresh yesterday and don't have the eval version sign on the desktop, but I did with previous versions!

I've left my HP 6714b laptop installing this latest release installing it today. Just need to check the Microsoft site to clarify whether it'll need un-installing prior to the proper release etc. I've heard the proper release is due around June time.. :(

Hello Mikey, the Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Release Candidate is time limited software. It will no longer work after the 30th of June and is advised you uninstall it prior to this date. You will be required to remove the Release Candidate before you can install the final version anyway. :)

Yeah that's what I thought.. I'll probably re-build the laptop then. I'll leave my main PC without it until it's properly released etc.
