Found this on a railway related forum.

A fully operational British Rail Class 47 express passenger and freight loco for sale on Ebay.

Class 47s were in daily use hauling intercity passenger trains until about five years ago, when they and the trains they were pulling were replaced with Voyagers.

They now see use on freight trains and passenger railtours.

Hopefully a preservation group will be able to win the auction, though with the high value of scrap metal, I wouldn't be surprised if it gets bought by a scrap merchant.

Further reading can be found here.

Be interesting to see who would buy something like this

What you lot think? think some trainspotters missus is going to be annoyed when she finds that in the back garden :D

Not IN it then?
Actually he was right wasn't he...
You say; "I'm getting on the train now" not, "I'm getting in the train now".
Depends what context I guess.

Anyways, wow what a thing to be selling on eBay. Open for a heist here? Scrap metalists go undercover and buy it, and scrap it!!

How exactly would you transport something like that, i assume network rail won't let you just drive it down the rail network? They weight like 100tonne or something?

Transported by low-loader is an option, who ever wins this thing will defo have the money to move it.
