29th & 30th Football *Spoilers*

Anyone else enjoying the 67th slow motion replay of Ronaldo's free kick?

Great free kick...but I mean, there's bound to be a floor of used tissues in that Sky studio.
:D

They are going just a little over the top.

Great free kick as it is, unsaveable as it is, it's not the best I've ever seen in the Prem.

Very mature G|mp :p

We'll turn it around I'm sure, finishing outside of the top 4 simply isn't something I see happening, while it's difficult to make excuses for the results of late the focus has been on the owners' antics for the last few months, which isn't helpful to Rafa or the players. Once a bit of stability returns our consistency will return as well.

being honest though i don't see benitez getting that much time, he'll get to the end of the season but if you finish 4th again unless you win/reach final of cl i don't see them keeping him on.

i didn't even realise pool were playing tonight actually, weird.

It was a really good freekick but unfortunately most football fans saw Ronaldo at the beginning of the season hitting freekicks as hard as he could straight into the wall (even Man U fans got annoyed by this - they probably think he's the new Beckham at freekicks now mind :p) so this could have just been a fluke :D

If I see him hitting more like that into the top corner I can be proven wrong. Beckham's style of freekicks were a lot more technical than just booting it as hard as you can. No real technique there.

Over the past few months they have been a lot better to be fair. Ratio of ball-to-wall has dropped anyway I reckon.

I don't think you will be proved wrong. His style is so unconventional that he will sky 10 for every 1 he scores, but the few that go in look absolutely spectactular. Beckham was a far superior free kick taker in his day.

To be fair it takes amazing technique to be able to kick the ball as hard as Ronaldo did tonight, while still managing to get it over the wall and under the bar. Simply kicking the ball as hard you can will result in the ball either hitting the wall, or ending up in row Z 100% of the time.

Exactly...fluke :D

Like I said, if I saw him challenging the keeper week in, week out I'd of known he could score these goals no problem.

The balls are designed nowadays to dip like anything so more players need to try just booting the thing!

Have you ever played football??:p

Yep, hence my post...

his free kick taking has improved loads since that european game. erm lisbon was it? he did my head in before then but i'm pretty keen on him taking them now.

I agree, it's a little unfair to say there's no technique involved. The problem is that using that technique makes having full control of the ball almost impossible a lot of the time.
