Beckham left out of England squad - squad announced

I doubt that Capello will see it as a meaningless game!
I agree with that, even though it's a friendly the whole country will be looking at his first game with interest.

Despite that I still think that no-one would have objected to giving Beckham his 100th cap in this game.

Good news, Beckham's 100th cap should mean nothing to a manager who should be picking a squad based on who will do the best job, not sympathy, even if it is a friendly or whatever. If Beckham's not up to that then so be it, Capello knows better than we do.

Lennon in u21's ^

Looks like we'll have a new captain for the friendly at least with no Beckham/Terry anyway.

How can Curtis Davis be included when Steven Taylor and David Wheater have not both are several times better

Rob green should No.1 choice on his form this season and hes young

Glen Johnson is a good choice at right back, Midfielders are spot on

From that squad id be playing

------------James---------------

---Johnson Ferdinand Woodgate Bridge---

--Bently Gerrard Carrick Downing----

-------Rooney Crouch----------

I'd have included Green but all 3 keepers in there have played well domestically this season. Arguably not a well as Green though.

Like Nzyme I'm very surprised with the inclusion of Curtis Davies and am also a bit dubious about Agbonlahor's ability to make the step-up to international standard.

What players would you put in that would realistically be involved in the first 16 that aren't already there (not including injured players)?

David Wheater ;)

and id get rid of joe cole cause ehs a waste of space

From the squad I'd go for:

James
Brown - Ferdinand - King - Cole
Gerrard - Carrick - Hargreaves - Cole
Rooney - Owen

wanna put anymore utd players in there ?

youd play wes brown over glen johnson or micah richards ?

Johnson yeh. Never noticed Richards in the squad, probably still would though since Richards doesn't even play there anymore.

He's still the best right back in the squad though. Its a shame he's moved inside, it is only going to make his positioning for full-back worse.

There is no-one but Richards going for that position in that squad. We badly need Neville back.

From that squad I'd like to see:

Carson

Richards - Ferdinat - King - Cole

Bentley - Jenas - Hargreaves - Young

Agbonlahor - Crouch

For the friendly, of course. I expect James, Neville, Terry, Ferdinand, Cole, Gerrard, Hargreaves, Lampard, Cole, Rooney and Owen to be the choices if/when we have everyone available.
