29th & 30th Football *Spoilers*

Everton in the CL is just not to be and the sooner everybody realises that the better.

Also i don't agree with the stuff about Benitez only being in the job because of the CL win. Our club has proven that they give managers time, Houllier was given 6 seasons and didn't win anything (or even qualify for the CL) untill his 3rd, he then failed to qualify for the CL in his 5th season and was still given another year.

And that's the reason Liverpool aren't getting anywhere in the league. Could do with a bit more ruthlessness.

Perhaps a bit of German reliability would work ;).

Whenever I see Liverpool get yet another bad result it just brings to mind how all their fans were bigging up their chances of the title at the start of the season. Torres was the missing link for the team and all that stuff.

Just look how it has turned out now. I'm not saying Liverpool wont get 4th spot because they probably will, but it's clear to everyone (apart from Rafa it seems) that a lot of their players are simply not good enough.

As a relative neutral I think it would be great for a team like Man City, Everton or Aston Villa to get 4th spot. It might give Liverpool a kick up the arse and hopefully be more competative next season to give us a better title race.

And is that because Liverpool have more 'rights' to it? It could be Everton or City in the CL and the sooner Liverpool fans realise that the better

exactly, no one has a divine right to it and people need to realise that, i think they are still big favourites to get the spot but they need to sort themselves out because the teams they used to be ahead of are progressing at a faster rate than they are. it's big 3-liverpool-other european contenders now.

Most Liverpool fans were saying we won't win the league this year and that we needed more in attacking positions  The only people on here i can remember saying we'll win the league were Everton and Newcastle supporters.

lol it was a joke :)

I wasn't just meaning on here I meant in general.

I don't recall those comments from Everton or Newcastle fans though  I remember the Newcastle fans expecting bigger things, but certainly not that big :p

Cant even bothered watching Liverpool these days the whole team lost of confidence because what going on outside of the club. Lets see what happens if Rafa don’t get at least the FA Cup I think it time for Rafa to go.

Haha, I suppose we were all saying this is our year as well?

Even though you've qualified for the CL every year?

They didnt qualify every year, they had to write new rules to allow them in again.

They were all saying they were going to finish a lot closer to the leaders this year.

Its twisting the arguments all the time, they are not good enough, Benitez isnt good enough liverpool SHOULD BE BETTER.

Arsenal fans shouldn't be critical of other clubs (especially ones that have won more than them recently) while they're not winning things.
How silly. Even ignoring that a teams success has absolutely no bearing on a fan's ability to criticise others, we can't knock you because you happen to have won the CL recently?

Lets ignore your FA Cup win, because we did that too. We were league runners-up a couple of seasons ago, you haven't managed that. Can we criticise you now?

We've leapfrogged you this season, despite having offloaded one of the best players the Premiership has ever seen, and spending virtually nothing in the process. We play far more attractive football than you do, and have done better with it in the league and CL so far this season than you. And I don't remember us conceeding two goals to non-league opposition at home any time recently.

Can we criticise you now?
Its very realistic that you will be knocked out by Utd in the FA cup and i can't see past Utd in the league which would leave the CL as your only chance of winning a trophy this season. Failure to win anything this season would mean no trophies in 3 seasons despite playing great football. Is that enough for Arsenal fans?
Yeah actually, it is. I mean, obviously I'd be gutted to have come close and not managed anything, but I'm just loving that we're back in the race again.

Cup competitions have a healthy share of luck (;)) to them, so it's equally likely we could suprsingly thrash/narrowly beat/do a 2005 final on Man Utd in our fixture as it is us losing. Equally, anything can happen in the league between now and May, and as long as we stay in the chase (;)) we're in prime position to do something about it. And AC Milan will be an ace tie, but anyone can take anyone else on their day in the CL (winkywinkywink).

At the start of the season, I would've been happy with 3rd or a distant 2nd in the league. If we win anything this season I'll be ecstatic. :)

I know they didn't but they won the ******* thing didn't they?

Jeezus what do you want him to do turn water into wine? :p

BaZ

Even since Houlier went into the sunset (and esp since Fergie's first 4 years of non-success) football in general and the EPL especially has changed dramatically - how many EPL managers have been sacked over the last few seasons because clubs cant afford the "failure" of non CL quali, Euro Quali, demotion etc? Must be 15+ , in the time yuo are talking about that just wouldnt have happened because the time was given to each manager no matter what the club.

Dont get me wrong, its not right the likes of Big Sam / Small Sammy and all the others where sacked before even getting comfy and ingrained in each club, but the loan repayments /tv revenues are so huge the time given has shrunk drastically to each and every manager because depending on how each club/chairman measure failure for their club, the penalty has become much much worse

I know Liverpool have a home game in hand agaisint everyone around them, but I can honestly see them being completely out of Europe next year by the end of the season if something doesnt happen very soon.

Carra , Stevie and now Torres are able to get wins out of draws, and draws out of losses, but three out 11 (ok Reina is also but to a more limited extent in a way) just wont last a full season, and they get worn out more easily because of the added pressure imo

It will be very interesting to see how you cope with the CL games coming up, because honestly it looks beyond you at the moment - and Im the first to admit this used to be your bread and butter!!

Firstly i don't think the way managers are being sacked now comparing when Houllier was around is that different. But thats pretty meaningless, Liverpool have always given managers time and imo 5 seasons for Rafa is perfectly acceptable especially when you consider what he's won. Houllier had more time and only managed to qualify for the CL 3 times let alone reach the final or win it.

Nope, just challenge for the league title :(

If he stays long enough, challenging for League 1 might be within his grasp;)
At the risk of repeating myself, Benitez winning the CL is the worst thing that's happened to Liverpool since the PL started as they've wasted £m's on very average players (presumably chosen by him) raised the expectations of their fans (without raising the club's profile globally in relation to others) and been whored from pillar to post by potential suitors just because they won the CL in recent memory, it's great to follow mind:)

What a crazy comment?!

If he got 'pool to one final, fair enough, maybe the gods shined on him that year. Still one hell of a fluke though? To actually win it and then get to another final, something even Fergie and Wenger haven't managed must show you guys he knows FAR more about football then you could possibly ever know surely?

Utter, utter, madness

Fergie and Wenger for much of their time at their clubs have been challenging for the title. If they had focussed only on the CL like Rafa has done then maybe they would have made a few more finals as well.

Even the season we got to the CL final, most of it we spent chasing your lot and you lot messing it up got us in the back door and we only even made a push around late Feb/March to grab that place.
