Do you agree with this?

if not why not? if so, why?

I am doing a debate at school, and I am arguing against it, just wondered what other people thoughts were on the subject.

Thanks :)

I gladly would, if it means that you're more prepared for raising a child and all that requires then all the better

but do you think that if you don't have training, that you should be denied the right to have a child?

UN article 16, part 1, states:

Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry and to found a family. They are entitled to equal rights as to marriage, during marriage and at its dissolution.

Oh, I didnt see that bit.

No it should not be an enforcement, but there really should be more education about having children

Not training, but a simple IQ test.

Although, as I've mentioned before here, child 'licenses' are already in effect in China, and the system doesn't work. There is a huge 'black-market baby' industry.

I think with the fast growing population in the UK some form of limit on the amount of children you are allowed to have is not too far away. Only allowing parents that have had training might be a way to do this.

As long as the training is free I wouldn't mind. It might cause a drop in chav population.

They should only be optional, however should be mandatory if the person is suicidal, drug abuser, alcoholic etc. We cant stop someone having kids but you can force them to go to training if they have had a violent past.

It should really be taught at schools with so many teenage pregnancies. my view anyway.

Like China did?

that didnt really work very good and caused a lot of riots. if you want a large family then its up to you to make that choice and carry it out, however training should be provided with regards to my other post.

If you have a child and are complete incapable of looking after it, like most chav families are, and the kids are out on the estate knifing and raping, then you should have to have training and an IQ test. Then a test on what you have learnt.

If you fail, or pass but go back to your old ways, neuterings shall proceed :p

Essentially the alternative is that you have state-sanctioned sterilisation/abortion/infanticide to enforce the law - which is the extreme end of the spectrum, the arguments against this shouldn't be too hard..!

The more moderate view would be that state support for children is only given when the state consents to a child being born - however the counter-argument would be what would you do with the child once it is born if the parent cannot support it? If people do not have enough money to survive by legal means then they will inevitably turn to criminal means by sheer necessity - raising the argument that is the dole simply a bribe for the poor to stop them engaging in criminal activity....!

You could use the argument that unless parents are 'qualified', the state will take away the children and raise the children under the care of the state - however historically the state has never been the best at raising children..

Not gonna say any more, but think about some of that :p

UN article 16, part 1, states:

no but you just have it so that you must take part in and complete the course, before you are allowed child tax credits/benifits.

IQ tests?
Monkeys seem to score significantly less at them yet they still manage to survive.

Disagree strongly, if some poor guy wants to have a kid he should by all means try to get one.
Some people just love their kid and all they need to be happy is that their kid is happy.

thank you, I did not know this, I will read into it.

Couples have to jump through hoops when they want to adopt or foster, and have to prove to the authorities that they are "suitable" to look after the children.

However any fertile pair of people can just pop out offspring after offspring without any justification, tests, paperwork etc.

Fair? I think not.

(Oh yeah, I'm a 23yr old male, who has no intention of having kids yet, be it natural or adopt/foster - so this is just my observations, not a low-blow because I've been declined for adopting/fostering etc ;))
