Ok, scrap the 300-800mm. This is the lens I want;

Yeah the lens can shoot at its maximum aperture of F2.8 through its designed range "200-500mm"

When you attach the tele photo converter addon your lens doubles up "400 - 1000mm"
The main problem with this is that your extending its range and to take the sacrifice for this the maximum aperture becomes a couple of stops smaller. So it becomes a F5.6 lens when the converter is attached.

Talking of minimum focusing distance, the 200-500mm f2.8 has one listed as 150cm which seems pretty damn good if that all the way up to 500mm. Whack the converter on and you would have a seriously oversized macro lens. :D
Unlikely I think :(
The sigma 120-300 has min focus distance of 150cm at 120mm going up to 250cm at 300mm. My guess would be this lens is similar.

so, we've got the Bigma and the Sigmonster. what will this be called? Sigzilla?

<edit>
oh, it seems i've unwittingly actually suggested its actual name. cool. :p

:D

looks like a bloody bazooka!!!
reminds me of my days playing worms. :p

£17k :(

I honestly had no idea of the price, but £17k seems like an honest amount for such a monster.

I personally won't be interested in paying that much cash, especially when a 600mm F4 is far more usable and £5-6k.
I doubt it'll be very popular apart from the sidelines at football matches and the olympics.

Still a monster bit of kit, :cool:

Which is £1250 on its own.

The 70-200 F/2.8 IS which is one of the sharpest lenses does poorly with a 2xTC vs a 100-400...

IMO it doesn't bother me at all :/
