Try reserving one. Here in Cheshire, they charge 75p to reserve a book. Ostensibly for the postage, but they also do an email notification. And they charge 75p for that too

75p to send an email. When the whole friggin' system is computerised anyway, and you could rig it to send the email automatically as soon as the book is scanned back in...
