Gym achievements

What was that exercise that someone mentioned (oddjob or morba?) about pushing on a weight that you cannot lift and then trying just above your 1RM and being able to have about 5-10% more power? I heard some people talking about it in the gym today and I said I had heard about it but I'd like to read up about it if poss - what would it be called?

Big leg day for me today, including 150kg squats x 8 with dropsets of 70 x 12! Eek! I can't walk. After doing calf raises and lunges I'm ****ed :o

Not sure what you mean there mate.

Maybe partial reps?, Negatives?

Worryingly i was busy on Friday!! So still not had a look. It is out there somewhere!

Back on topic: I read somewhere about someone doing a 10x3 routine, no idea who it was though ;] ..
so thought it would be worth seeing how 10 sets of 3 feel on bench. It actually felt really good and I was benching 110kg x3 come the end of it. can't argue with that.
Would have to say if i benched for weight rather than hypertrophy i would be benching over bodyweight, which was a target for me.

1 min rest, could have cut it down to 45 though. Its an interesting one that I had never considered, but it works well.

Im currently doing 3 days a week, legs each day to start then either chest shoulders tris or back bis. Doing that a few weeks before hitting HST again (providing i dont screw my life up and move again!)

I should do a lot of things tbh, but atm really cant be ****** hehe. too much going on at home and at home (long story!) and in work to be dead set on anything strict atm, hence not jumping straight into another HST routine.

might have been me, supposedly if you lock the weight under something unliftable and push against it in the mid-section of a rep you can immediatley load the bar up with 10% more weight. I'll find the article on t-nation inna bit

That's an interesting way of doing this, probably an excellent strength gainer. I alternate each week with some exercises I do my last set at the heaviest weight, then the following week I aim for 10 solid reps.

Yeah I'm currently on my 4th week of Chad Waterbury's 10x3 for fatloss, fantastic routine. Weight down from 15st 11lbs to 15st 1lb. Haven't weighed myself for a few days though, hopefully I'm a flat 15st (210lbs) now :)

I think I'm going to try and lose another 5lb-7lb and I should be ripped!

That's the one I did last year. Just finished a 12 week routine (another Waterbury ;)) so I might revist that one for a change of pace.

You have the spreadsheet with all his routines on? That's the best use of Excel ever.

2nd post down in that link is my workout log :)

You've helped me decide which one to do tomorrow now though, still have too much chub on so it's 10x3 FFL again.

Plus the fact I love the 10x3 thing.

Currently experiencing mental strength gains whilst cutting on this 10x3

Can see why, I slipped a 10x3 CGPI lat pull down into my back routine yesterday, was using weight a lot more than i was able to do single reps on previously. Quite odd, but worked a treat!

It's a keeper for sure! Another weapon added to the arsenal to assault my body with :)

Jumped on the scales this morning and they kept flickering between 14st 13lb and 15st. So I'm a budgie's willy under 15st for the first time in ages :)

I know this is a little "me me me" but hey :o

Just achieved 10x 160kg Squat, and squeezed out 4 on 170. SO SO happy with that. :D :D :D

However.... I'm suffering a bit of tennis elbow/rsi/something on my left arm which is causing me quite a bit of jip when it comes to exercises as it causes me to worry about it and compromises my grip slightly :( I'm going to the quacks to find out what it is, but it's a horrid shooting pain all the way down my forarm :( It must be from sitting at my computer... It's really irritating and causing me to struggle with some exercises.

Overall though I've lost 4/5lbs through a light bit of cutting, but I'm going to go back and bulk for a bit (I just wanted to feel better about myself).

I had a bit of a dip where I wasn't really happy with how I was doing - I'm picking myself up again though.

What sort of routines do those that are training for bodybuilding or hypertrophy use? (links?) I've only really seen training for strength / a proper 6-7day split BB routine or a middle ground between strength and hypertrophy. Never really a useable routine for a novice who wants to head towards BB. Or at least none have stuck in my head.

I also like the look of the 10x3, unfortunately I wouldnt be able to go this heavy for ages. My lower back was acting up on the rowing machine nevermind heavy deads!
