Hey all,

a little bored at work and I've been invited to The Pink Toothbrush in Rayleigh tonight...

I'm wondering what it's like, I'm told it's grubby and grimey with rock music and dance cages. Sounds right up my street! :)

Anyone else been? got an opinion?

Tah!

Yep, but not for a very long time (roughly 3 years).

I generally found the last time I went far too many 'scenesters' were turning up, who are obviously there just to pose but in all fairness, it wasn't that bad as they generally got ignored anyway.

One of the strangest phenomena you'll enjoy about the PT is that, you'll go in clean and venture out muddy; I never did work that one out.

It's not a bad place if that's what you're after really. Besides, it's never where you go, it's the company you keep! :p

Oh yeah, and you may want to leave a little early if you're after a taxi as they're like gold-dust at closing time.

Yeah it's not bad! Only club esque venue i'd go to anyway, without venturing into London. And even then i'd stick to The Worlds End and Underworld.

There's a lot of Emo tehse days but it's still good for a laugh. Plus, what have you go to lose? It's either that or Sams, Dukes or Liquid (or whatever it's called in Southend).. and they're full of chavs :o

Cool :)

Your forgetting Mayhem, go there on a Monday night, you won't regret it :) Thanks for the info!

Oh, i'm totally pencilling this in then. Thanks :)

go on a Monday night, it's an Indie, Rock, Emo, Punk, Metal night - it's awesome, entry is free before 10 and it's £2 a drink all night and open till 2am :)

Brilliant night out, I'm there every few weeks!

Each night is a different type so Tuesday could be Chavs for example :p

Also, the great thing about it, is it has about 6 different sections, so if you fancy a different type of music just goto a different section, each one has it's own bar so getting drinks is never an issue :D

Sold. I'll check it out. I'd be in before ten, being a yuppy and all that :P also im a total lightweight so if drinks are £2, looks like im gonna have a nice night out for £4 and some petrol! :P

I've been there a couple of times mate.

Its not bad. They play some pretty good music, but the place could do with a make over! :D It gets pretty packed on Saturdays.

A Mate of mine has played there a few times.

Used to work there many moons ago (1986!!!), not been in there since I left.

probably still the same now as it was then, filthy dirty place, with punters drinking cheap lager straight from the can & listening to indie/punk/northern soul/ska music.

I go to the brush a few times a month, nearly always on Fridays though, Saturdays are comparatively poo. It's my 'local' so to speak, I don't really go clubbing anywhere else. Mayhem on mondays is pretty good, but it's a bit young for me in there, I'm only 23 and it makes me feel old!

The place is a total ****ing dive, but that's no reason to not go and have a good time :D

It's usually pretty friendly, not many people starting trouble, everyone just has a good time. It's a ****hole, but a friendly one.

If you like that sort of thing it's good, I'm not really into that music but had a good time anyway probably because I was so wasted. Make sure you get there early though otherwise it fills up and is one in one out.

edit/ I see this was posted yesterday :)

Cheers dude.

Speaking of which, it was a quality night, good music all night - we watched some guy get rejected by a 40ish year old woman which was hilairious and in general people were friendly and cool :)

Really enjoyed it, will deffo go back

I go clubbing on all sorts or nights, but metal rooms always make me smile. People don't seem to know what they should be doing, moshing, headbanging, chatting... and full of dress up 'try-hards' amongst people who are there just to enjoy themselves, as it should be.

I enjoy to drink with the view of a metal room :D
