Another one of those threads about watches

Nah. Just a single watch winder for now. Why are they all so expensive? It's not like they can be complex to make, hell I could probably make one out of Lego technic. I suppose they're all aimed at watch enthusiasts with large pockets. Cheers though. I'll have a look and see what I can dig up.

Can't find a single one in my price range on ebay either :mad:Extreme googling will be my task for the rest of the day then.

I know they are a statement of wealth (to a degree), but who actually owns one because they like it?

Most of the Rolexs I've seen are horrid. I wouldn't wear that even if it is worth a few k.

I wouldn't spend any decent amount of money on a watch because:

1. A normal "cheap" watch tells the time and keeps accurate time to boot.

2. It's just willy-waving (IMNSHO, of course!)

I have a watch that looks good and tells accurate time and I don't need to willy wave. :p

not for most people

I will probably go out tonight with this one on, I doubt anyone will notice it or have any idea what it is, that suits me. I like it and that's what matters

I've broke about 3 watches in the last year, no idea how i just wake up with them still on and either shattered, twisted, or dead.

I'm thinking of buying a more expensive watch, but want one that can survive my insane clumsiness when it comes to watches, as if it was expensive I'd be more miffed if it got knackered.

Why does everything have to be about willy-waving? Some people like a particular thing, others don't and like something else. It's not rocket science  Maybe you like expesnive clothes? Computer kit? Cars? We all have our "thing" ;)

What is that, out of curiosity?

Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Extreme World Chronograph

you can see why they didn't put the full name on the dial ;)

15 quid is really asking a lot , you may get a cheap one for about £40

Suppose so. I just thought that there might be ones for people who aren't really for enthusiasts (or people that can't afford to be at the moment :(). A very nice JLC you have there too. One of the few 'busy' watches I actually like. I've been eyeing up the Master Control lately.

I didn't even have to look at that for more than a second to realise it's a cheap copy. By cheap, i mean about $60 USD, or less if it has a quartz movement. You probably wouldn't notice it if it was one someones wrist though, as it's hard to get a good look.

I'm a huge fan of the Submariner, or at least i was until Rolex decided to ruin it by engraving RolexRolexRolex all the way around the rehaut on the latest one. It's a classic design, like the Fender Stratocaster or Gibson Les Paul, and it still looks as good as it did 30 years ago.

If i had £3K to spare, i'd go out and buy a 1680 or 5513 tomorrow.

My M serial Sub LV has the rehaut engraving and I really like it as it is subtle. If I look at other ones now that are "new" in the shops there almost seems to be something missing without the engraving.
Here you go for some vintage Sub drooling!

I don;t normally go for busy watches either but the JLC just looks right to me :)
