how do i update to DX10 (vista ultimate + 3870x2+crysis)

Odd DX10 is intergrated into Windows Vista, its a part of the OS, even with a DX9 card the OS still has DX10 as far as I know obviously the DX9 card uses DX9.0. Check the shortcut to make sure it has not got the -DX9 text that forces it to run in DX9, in Crysis have you pressed tab in game and typed R_Displayinfo-1 which will show you info.

Have you tried patching to 1.1?

Plus, crysis is known to be very buggy, i couldn't get dx10 to work in it (just the black screens) but dx10 worked fine in any other game

I installed the dx10 driver after installing vista as I wasnt sure if it did it automatically. And dx10 works fine on mine. Try that.

where did you get this dx10 driver? i searched everywhere and cant find it for download. anyway, i think the problem is caused when i first installed vista with my x1900xtx card, maybe it did not install dx10 with it. i just reinstalled vista with the 3870x2, and that seemed to work.

I just tried playing it in dx10 mode on my3870x2, took quite a while to load initially (black screen) but got there in the end.

Wish I could figure out why its so choppy on high settings - I'd have thought this new pc could cope with it? (q6600 - stock, 3870x2 stock, 4gb, Asus p5e, vista HP).
