I have just bought this mobo and it looks a good one, well set out and the cooler looks ace....
Glad you like it. This is mine with its new cooling setup
***predator***
whats the screen that is displaying the temps?
That is some setup and overclock, it looks like it belongs on a space ship lol
Make sure you're running the latest bios first. In addition you may find the bios changes the FSB to 200, so set it to 400 and lower the CPU multiplier to suitGot the maximus extreme + Q6600 + 8800 GTS
And now getting the OCZ 2GB DDR3 PC3-14400C8 1800MHz Platinum (OCZ3P18002GK)
Anyone else got this RAM?
Will it work straight outta the box without having to mess about with the BIOS?
Not overclocking just yet.. want to see whats it like stock..
Am a complete novice btw...
So don't know if I need to change any settings or will it work ok without any BIOS changes..
Hi Guys,
Im quite new to this forum and I need some help with my Asus Setup:
Currently I have
Q6600 with Zalmen 9700LED
Asus Maximus Extreme 0905 bios
OCZ Reaper X DDR3 PC8500
2x Powercolour 3870 XT
Enermax Galaxy 850w
Coolermaster Nvidia Gaming Case 830 Stacker
The problems for me are the voltage settings etc, I have all 4 fans on the side panel and intake fan up front pushing cool air into the case, room temp is roughly around 19c so quite chilled probably lower. My NB temp is at around 40c to 45c CPU is always at 30c and below with CPU fan on full.
I have clocked the cpu and board a little but would really appreciate some advice, also the graphic cards I have are quite close together on the board and I have only overclocked them mildly 820mhz core and 2420 mhz memory and when i run 3dMark06 I get an error stating something about vertex buffer and also driver stopped working and has been recovered.
Anyone who can help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Currently on the 0601 Bios 11/01/07
Think I should update it.
Could someone point me in the right direction to update the MOBO. There seems to be a bunch of ways.
And also to which version the latest...?
What ATI driver are you using? and are those cards water cooled?
I would suggest OC'ing the GPU first until you reach its max, then overclock the grfx card's memory after. That way you can eliminate whats causing the problem
Got it sorted now pred, reformatted drives and did a fresh install, everything runs a treat.
Could you give me some examples of voltage settings for say around a 4ghz clocked Q6600?
Also whats the heat limit for the NB and SB, I have the Nvidia Gamers edition 830 stacker and got all fans installed blowing good air in plus got a ambient room temp of around 11c so its cool.
Currently im running at 3.2ghz on stock volts for the CPU but with the gear I have I can seriously push more, I tired a bit and got to 3.8ghz but because Im not a knowledgable guy in terms of overclocking I stopped and set it to 9x333.
CPU temp atm is very good as its at 24c idle and 32c load.
Your help would be much appreciated.
Cheers
Hi,
Glad you got it sorted. I can tell you what mine's set to, but ofcourse I've got slightly different RAM to you, so not sure how that will affect things.
Anyways, here's a rough idea:
9 x 440
FSB Strap 333
2T
7
7
7
20
AI Clock: Strong
Transaction Booster: Enabled (3)
CPU: 1.525
PLL: 1.68
North Bridge Voltage : 1.69
DRAM Voltage : 2.0
FSB Termination Voltage : 1.50
South Bridge Voltage : auto
Loadline Calibration : Enabled
CPU GTL Reference : 0.63x
North Bridge GTL Reference : 0.67x
South Bridge: 1.65
Hope that helps. Its as stable as anything for me now!
So far so good
