Has MS really put in a bid for Google for $45 Billion!

I wish people would stop spinning that tired old line. My PC just works and best of all i can upgrade any part i like with any other part i like

Maybe because it isn't?

Number of times Windows XP has needed to be re-installed over the last 3 months on my Desktop PC - Twice.

Number of times OS X has needed to be re-installed on my MacBook over the same period - None

However a lot more apps and data have been installed/removed from the MacBook.

Google just works as well. Thus Apple + Google = heaven.

^^ That arguement just doesn't stand up to scrutiny. My old PC had to have a reinstallation once in about 3 years. Some people have lots of problems with OSX, some people don't.

I would say that less people have problems with OSX because of apples closed hardware platform, but that's not to say Windows can't be just as good.

Number of times my Vista has been installed since it RTMed - 0.

The number of times my XP Pro had been reinstalled in the 12 months previous to that - 0.

And i know of a Mac user on this very forums who had to reinstall OSX less than 12 months ago.(Titchard)

Thus Apple + Google = heaven.

LOL! I hope you get your wish and OSX goes on to have a 70% market share

Love the headline on drudge for this:

"MSFT BIDS $45B FOR YHOO; GOOG SPOOKED"

Interesting bid that's for sure.

Why would you do that? Because Windows software soon shags out your current hardware or uses up so much memory you just need to shove more in.

Shags out? Window actively destroys hardware that's a new one on me. When i do need more memory i have more choice and same goes for graphics card and when buying USB devices I don't have to spend two weeks researching them to see if they work.

TBH you choose a complete solution for your computing needs and i didn't, i wanted to make my own choices. I don't attack mac users but many of them seem to have something to prove to Windows users.

If we wonder over to Mac forums here as well i bet people are advising to bang as much ram in the mac as possible jsut like they with Windows its a computer thing

Was really only taking the Michael to be honest.

Fair play to you mate, all to your own.

But, ive never researched a USB device. It isnt 1999 anymore.

As an IT Professional (honest!) who has dealt with large amounts of XP installs as well as a large amount of OS X installs OS X has caused far less problems at both an OS level and an Application level.

However, Apple controls the hardware so I would hope it is a lot more stable.

I prefer using OS X at home as it does seem to work better for me. I use Google for the same reason as it works better for me as well.

I also like supporting the underdogs and good guys instead of the Evil Empire!

Google is fast becoming an 'Evil Empire' IMO.
So then what will you turn to?

Can't say that I'm surprised by the Yahoo purchase, can't see it making too much difference though. I do sometimes use Live search and it's not that bad.. Better than what it used to be

Google has taken over and has pretty much the internet in there hands, all MS and Yahoo can do is watch it drift ahead of them imo. The internet money making ship has sailed. Better luck next time MS, if there is one.

If Google play it properly and stick to their "do no evil" mantra then Google might take over, which might be a good thing in competition against Windows at some point (especially on mobile devices).

I think too many people are discounting Microsoft's ability to innovate when they're up against serious competition, which is what has been lacking in the last few years (introduction of Firefox as an example of Microsoft "waking up").

Ye agreed, Google have had all the ideas or adapted all the great ones and created a service the majority uses while MS and Yahoo have kind of sat back in the "oh they arent giants like us they wont do anything big" attitude and Google have knocked them for six.

Very interesting to see what the future holds.
