just arrived..my personal review of 3870x2

its some sort of volumetric thing

but I'm running in DX9 mode atm (I think !)

getting about 30 fps average in 1900x1200 no AA

but if I select 4xAA plummets to 13 fps ... but no much change in visuals - ie doesn't realy look any less jaggied !

right after more testing ... if you are running Crysis in DX9 mode and using 8.1 hot fix drivers

RUN IN WINDOWED MOD - far higher frame rates

in full screen mode - lower frame rates + drop-offsin frame rates

windowed mode = smooth as silk

VERY impressed wither performance, not getting any of these major slow-downs/low fps at all

You will get smoother frame rate in windows mode since the res is lower , I use NV scaling and sometimes use 1280x1024, it dont look blury or anything then you just have a large black border, looks like a picture frame

1800xt>1900xtx+1900xtMaster>voodoo3>7200GS. On a 30" Samsung 2560x1600
The ATI cards had better IQ than the 7200GS at the same res on the Desktop.

I have installed 8.1 drivers under vista64, do I still need the hotfix, as when I try to install it, it says `Setup was unable to find components that can be installed on your current hardware or software configuration. Please make sure you have that required hardware or software` ???? Any ideas guys ?

hotfix from MS for Vista makes quite a difference

on run 0 of Crysis GPU benchmark I got a few almost complete stops as something was loading up - now Idon't get that

in fact over the 3 runs -my minimum frame rate was 35 !

FSX works great after the GPU patch too

27fps - solid (I locked it at 27 as smooth and you don't get any judders) - IQ is very very good indeed, this is at 4xFSAA, 16xAF

is it meant to look that foggy? a crysis screeny earlier in the thread looked foggy aswell, i remember there being a fog/haze problem with ati a while back, wonder if it has returned?

worrying me has im considering buying one of these
