Heeeeeeeelo :D

Just wondered what the laws was for drinking with a meal - something like can have a few pints with a meal if your over 14?

Random question ;)

Regardless of what the law is you will find that a lot of restaurants will not serve alcohol to you if you are under 18.

They will not serve but will "allow" 1 glass of wine with a meal if over the age of 13

This is generally what i have discovered whilst eating out

Found out the law - says that I can drink if im 16 or 17 if accompanied by an adult and they buy it for me :)

FULLY STAR OUT SWEARWORDS

However this is simply the law - not a right.
If the establishment doesn't want to allow anyone under the age of xx to drink alcohol then it is entirely up to them.

And it must be beer, wine of cider.

I thought it was Shandy only. Probably just something my dad used to say though .

That sounds plausable, buying vodkas for a persons first few drinks doesnt seem like a good idea haha.

Well, Im going out for a meal with work, so can hopefully have a few pints there.

Feel like a hairy anus because Im the youngest person at work - 17 - and they're going to this comedy club and clubbing after :(

You won't get a few pints, if it's a pub on a country road you might get lucky, wouldn't expect the same from a franchise. It suck's to be under 18, nearly there :p

When I was working in a spoons pub, we had a couple come in and order some food with their 11 yr old daughter, very polite etc.

She then turned to the daughter and asks "so what do you want to drink" she replied with "a Smirnoff ice please"

I then explained that we don't serve people under 18 and i got told that "oh its ok were having food"

I then had to explain to them that the law is there for restaurants and its over the age of 16, some people surprise me.....

KaHn

18. i recently went to have a quick bite to eat at frankie and bennies i thkn sommit like that asked for a peroni ID'd me but didnt have it coz i sent it off because of speeding ticket :( felt so humiliating been to dozens of other restaurants never happened before!

Guys - it depends on the licence of the place you visit.
Some say that wine and beer with a meal from 14, some say 16, and like ours - nobody under 18 to drink alcohol regardless of what they're doing.
Must check at the place before assuming...

I was having a meal with my father in a country pub/restaurant when I was about 16 and they refused to serve me a coke, they made my dad go to the bar and buy it.

When I was 18 I was also asked for ID for a soft drink in a pub in York after they had let me order food.
