...a Daewoo Nubira II 1.8 cdx xtra-cool:eek: Been looking at a lot cars recently as the Xedos' s ABS pump had failed and it was going to be an expensive replacement on a £500 car. Looked at Octavias, Fabias, Almeras, Puntos, etc even an Alfa Romeo 147 t-spark but nothing floated my boat, the possible repair bills on the 52-reg Alfa scared me. But I popped into a small dealer near Hull today and saw this for sale:-

Priced at £2999 for a 04 reg top of the range Nubira, done 71k but has 6 Main dealer stamps in the service book, and the seller will change the timing belt when he services the car this week. The car has a great spec and has Climate control, abs, traction control, Decent CD/radio, electric windows all round, 16in Alloys shod with Goodyear NCT eagles. The car has had one lady owner and it is in mint condition as the photos show.

I know it is not the most amazing car but as a second car doing 4-5k per year it will be ideal, and it looks like pretty decent value for money as it has got most of its depreciation out of the way, these were £12k new so retailing at £3k after 3 years it has taken a big hit. Also it has the nice faux wood paneling that I love in cars. Picking it up on Saturday, quite looking forward to iit.

I had a Daewoo Lanos, the ABS was constantly buggering up along with a lot of electial components, including the dash lights going off in the middle of the night..

But if you're happy thats the main thing :)

Oh good Lord....

£3k. How many cars could you buy for that money that are truly epic in comparison to a sodding Daewoo Nubira? Hope you're happy with it, at any rate. Hell, a second (well, third or fourth in this case) class car is better than a first class bus ride.

Whyyyyy would you do such a thing dude! For 3k you could get such a nice little car. Why pick something thats basically crap. Dosnt even look nice, plus the colour, silver only suits BMW's and Mercs in my eyes.

And as for all the cars you looked at, i would have gone for that Alfa 147 or even look at a breara, or if you like the look of those 2 even a Fiat Bravo?

Not that car mannn, gutted.

Old mans car.

Rather you than me dude, hope you enjoy it.

Reminded me of the time Top Gear tested Korean cars, this is the Tacuma but point still stands :D

Clarkson's words:

They may say it's 'Xtra Cool', but trust me on this, it isn't. The only way you could possibly drive this car is with a box on your head, so nobody could tell that it's you.

in the end £2650. It is a bargain priced barge that I like. I could have got a mondeo/vectra et al but they would have been 5-6 years old, this is an 04reg car, well cared for, main dealer serviced. I needed a second car for just basic running around in, a-b commuting etc. This will hopefully a cheap and cheerful car that will last me a few years. Yeah I could have got something trendy, BMW, Audi etc but this was bought for cash, no HP, bank loan needed. Maybe at 40 I am just being too sensible but this car ticks a lot of boxes. I could have bought the Alfa but it would have attracted attention and be a target for vandals, etc

yeh, i don't think daewoos should be allowed in this forum :p

it is a bargain, but they are pap. if you have no interest in cars or the way they drive, it's probably a really sweet deal, so well done.
it's just.. its.. **** :(

you should have gone for another xedos 6..
the quality of plastics used is atrocious
