BFG 7900GT 256 OC DEAD!

I got a BFG 7800 gs agp card but its all work fine which is not a bad thing.

But say i wanted to rma it for a newer card how would one mess up a graphics card ? lol:D

Well it's here and running just fine.

I am now the proud owner of a 8800GTS (OC) 512Mb

It was boxed in some old cardboard, lots of foam but it's a OEM card. No leads or manual. The card is on OC for £204.44

A replacement for a card that cost £300 but I'm not grumbling ;)

A good returns policy never crosses the mind of guys like us. Anything in the quest for FPS and the hope that we are not being ripped off. I know that you are never going to choose kit because the company is good with returns. Thing is if you are looking at a couple of cards, and you are having difficulty choosing go for the BFG card. We all know they make good stuff but now you know that they look after their customers too...

I'd probably hazzard a guess that you'd have to send the old card back to them. You don't get something for nothing. Otherwise everybody would be saying my BFG 7900 GT is dead please rush me my replacement. I could see BFG going bust very quickly if that were the case.

Thing is 7900 have a known fault, It's aggravated by overclocking. Guess what, BFG overclock their graphics cards! I recon some management type has bitten the bullet and decided that all OC'ed 7900 get replaced.

I'm not sure I think of this as a free upgrade. Yes I now have a better card than I had before. More importantly I have a card that works! I got the 7900 only 18 months back and it cost me £300! at the time it was the baddest bugger on the block! In the end, games were unplayable and the dead pixel effect was ******* me off. You know it's not a driver issue when you get glitches in the BIOS screen LOL But the thing is why was it happening in the first place? The card was duff, and not just my card, a whole production run, maybe all of the 7900GT OC cards. Yes they are replacing the cards that get returned, but this is a long way from a product recall... Just wait and see who complains and then do the right thing? How many of these cards are in the bin because the owner didn't know? Mine was almost there until someone on this forum posted about it.

My advise is if you have a BFG 7900 with problems, textures in 3D and strange pixel's in 2D then have a chat with BFG.

PS big thankyou to "Mr Men" for the post about the lifetime guarantee.

LOL!!! I can't believe there customer service is THAT good. You should just buy a second hand BFG 7900 and break it, then send it off for replacement, get a 8800GTS for ...umm...how much do 7900GT go for these days??

You would probably need the original receipt and its only a lifetime warranty for the original buyer I believe.

I was not asked for a receipt but I did have to log on to the site using the same id as I did when I registered the card. Now there's a thing, how many of us register our new products with the manufacturer's websites?

hi there,

can you confirm that you had to send the card off, as i have the exact same card and recently sufferd the exact same symptoms. however i found the hsf to be really dusty and after giving it a blow it seems to be fine. however i havent been on my pc for awhile coz its packed away. if it works fine i may leave it, but if not i would like to know if i have to go through the hassle of sending it off...
