The lowerest price PC thats can run games better than current Gen Consoles

You're confusing function with price. An F1 car can't seat 4 in comfort and have enough space for their luggage. The point I'm getting at is that consoles ARE pretty much dedicated to gaming, it's the reason they're built. PCs, however, are much more multi-faceted than consoles.

it doesn't make them any worse at gaming though.

I am under the impression that most people buying a console actually own a TV. I know where your coming from though.

Most people already have a computer screen aswell.

most people don't have HDTV's either, but normal old CRT ones, so if you going to use that as an example you can get an old CRT Monitor for nothing anyway if you didnt already have a PC screen.

Usually I don't get into pointless arguments with fanboys on forums but a simple internet search says that 9-10% of people in the world actually own computers.

I guess what your saying is that "most" people out there have monitors in their homes but don't actually have a PC. Would you agree with this?

I don't actually know anyone who doesn't own at least 1 television.

The world aint europe and the US.
Far less people have a console than a pc.
There are enough people in less rich countries that don't have a tv, my grandma in Poland still doesn't.

most people who would be looking to buy an Xbox 360 would have a Computer screen, I'd imagin the 90% of people without PC's also wouldnt think about getting an Xbox or even have a TV either.

Actually the HDTV argument is rather valid, the Xbox 360 looks crap on standard tele's and was the reason I sold mine because it looked ugly on my top end 36" CRT which I have no need or desire to upgrade as yet.

infact come to think of it, if one is asuming that most people only have a CRT to play xbox on, then that's an even lower resolution, so an even crapper GPU than a x1950 could handle the latest and greatest at SDTV res.

Dedicated to what? Playing games, email, media playing, instant messaging, video downloading, emulating older consoles?

My 360 can do all of them, as can my PC.

People seem to forget that consoles are built to be cheap, thats why they always have quite restrictive hardware specs (especially RAM).

You're missing the point. Developers know what the hardware is in the 360, so they can take full advantage and code to its strengths. PC developers have to make their games work across a vast range of hardware, and obviously it's not going to be as optimal as programmining exclusively to a very certain hardware configuration such as the consoles.

Comparing apples to oranges mate, consoles have a far more diverse games library than PCs, and the vast majority of gamers do so on them. PCs are obviously far more useful than consoles for general purposes such as internet use, word processing, office work and all that hoo-haa, but you're only in the minority if you think gaming is better and more prevalent on the platform. PC gaming has been on the decline year on year - and it's for a reason.

Call of Duty 4 sold 380k on PC, and 7 million on consoles. Just a small nugget of information to chew on.

Did you get your (hd)tv for free ?

Not all pc users ''buy''.
The torrents for CoD4 had many thousands of downloaders the first day.
And there are thousands more downloading it every day...

I can only guess but I recon more pc gamers download than buy their games.

I forgot that you can't play consoles on normal televisions.

Not all console owners buy their games either. I wish I had shares in Verbatim before certain consoles were released.

Power supply, Operating system and Monitor?

Everyone has a copy of XP.

PSU and motherboard are part of the bare bones kit.

and a 19inch monitor is about £90, a HDTV is about £300 for the cheapest, so if you want to include a monitor the PC is much cheaper.
